Early this month of July my group of friends n I went to Hatyai for a 4 day 3 night stay. The Thai local guide brought us to see the legendary golden mermaid n after that we visited Ko Yo island after crossing the famous Tinsulanonda Bridge which gave us a panaromic view of the SONGKHLA island n the SONGKHLA Lake, a naturally scenic n the largest lake in Thailand. Then we went shopping for some dried seafood such as dried shrimps, dried ikan bilis n dried cuttlefish which we found to be much cheaper here than in Malaysia. Then we returned to Kai Seng Beach for some photo taking sessions at this beautiful n sandy beach. Unfortunately we were caught in a traffic jam n when we reached the black sacred boulder at the beach , it was near sunset which was around 6.45pm. According to our local Thai guide this boulder is regarded as sacred by most Thais who usually perform certain prayers n religious rites round this boulder. Despite the darkness we could see that this sacred boulder is being wrapped neatly around with orange , red n yellow ribbons. Some tourists climbed up this boulder to take photos with it. I consider that a bit sacrilegious as it should be respected instead. This boulder is accessible by some steps leading down to the beach. It was too dark n dangerous for us to get near the boulder but we could enjoy the beautiful sunset . Part of the horizon was lit up with streaks of red n yellow hues from the setting sun. The sun looked like a golden salted egg yolk slowly sinking down the sea. It’s a mesmerizing sight not to be missed. I find this sunset is even more mystic than the sunset in Bali or even in the Gold Coast of Australia. Come n experience this wonder n marvel of God’s creation...
