Were it possible, I would give this tour 6 stars out of 5. Oh boy, what an experience! We felt so welcome right from the meeting point up to the very end. Tom's English (our guide) was absolutely amazing. It was almost as if talking to a native speaker. Which makes it just soooo easy to communicate and shoot out your many, many questions about the wonderful diversity of Bangkok's street food. We met up in Chinatown and over the course of 4 hours we got to taste 19 (!) different dishes and drinks all over the many many different food stalls of Chinatown. Ranging from morning glory dumplings to pork stew to shrimps, green curry, satay some green juice, sweet dumplings, Tom Yam soup and even some crispy insects (on request). We've even visited two stalls which have been awarded a Michelin star. The group of 9 people was just small enough so you could really approach the tour guide as well, and he was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, he seems to enjoy his job tremendously. As did his helpers, always paying attention, so we tourists didn't stray or stand too far on the road. It happened quite often that I was so stunned by the scenery, I just forgot about cars and everything, and suddenly one of the elves appeared, shooing me back to safety. Again, I'm trying to put the experience into words, but they fail me, such a fab time we had. I can only say, if you are in Bangkok, try it out yourself, it's well worth the money and the time is so well spent, since you not only get to taste the food, but the stroll through Chinatown and Tom's explanation gives you a glimpse of how people live their daily lives in Bangkok....

We did the Old Siam Bangkok Food Tour: 15+ Tastings with A Chef's Tour (booked through Viator). This tour is really worth it! Not only do you get to see some of Bangkok by boat, bus, and tuk-tuk, but you will really get a taste of local cuisine in ways that you never would have otherwise!

My husband and I are not really super adventurous eaters, and we were worried that we would get a lot of strange food like fish heads (plus, we were jet-lagged and not feeling super hungry), but we were so pleasantly surprised!! Every single thing we tried was really cool and interesting, and while some things pushed our comfort zone a little, nothing really scared us. While we definitely had our favorites, I would say there wasn’t anything that I regretted trying. And a few things that became my new favorite foods (especially the desserts!).

The coolest thing was the venues - I never would have gone to such unassuming little shops, street carts, or markets on my own, never realizing the fabulous things they offered.

Our guide was a little difficult to understand at first due to his accent, but we quickly got the hang of it and he was super helpful in answering our questions and giving us a lot of insight into the city and it’s culture and history. Additionally, they were very thoughtful in providing hand sanitizers, wipes, water, and asking about our comfort level with spices (which was zero).

Overall, I would highly recommend this tour - but pace yourself or you’ll get too full...

We recently got married in Bangkok and welcomed 40+ guests from the U.S. and Europe, many visiting Thailand for the first time. As someone with Thai roots and a background in global (corporate) event planning, I wanted a truly unique and authentic welcome lunch—but nothing felt quite right until I found A Chef’s Tour and the BKK Backstreets Food Tour.

From the first email exchange, their passion and attention to detail stood out. They arranged Tuk Tuks to take our guests to Chinatown followed by a walking tour, where we enjoyed iconic food spots without having to wait in line or for a table. The team ensured a seamless, informative, and delicious adventure, making it a highlight of our guests’ entire trip. While our groups were private, my now husband and I also had the opportunity to join a regular tour group in advance, and it was equally amazing. Even our local BKK-Thai family members called it one of the best experiences they’ve had! You'll get to try (and love!) dishes you might never order on your own—consider it the perfect introduction to truly authentic Thai cuisine.

Huge thanks to A Chef’s Tour (Lucian & Customer Support team) and the amazing BKK guides (K’ Nuch, K’Oh, K’Rach, K’Chai) + assistants(K’Pae, K’Millet, K’King, and K’Fifa) for executing the perfect start to our wedding weekend. If you're in Bangkok, don’t...

This has truly been an incredible food tour experience! My husband and I are currently enjoying our trip in Thailand, and being avid food enthusiasts, this has been an absolute must for us. First and foremost, we'd like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Annie and Champ for their exceptional guidance in helping us immerse ourselves in Thai culture through its culinary delights. Connecting with our guides on a personal level was a delightful aspect, and their evident passion for their Thai heritage was truly inspiring. We've had the pleasure of savoring an extensive variety of delectable dishes, easily exceeding 15 different types! So come prepared for a feast! Annie and Champ ensured our comfort throughout, keeping us well-hydrated in the humid weather, maintaining our hygiene, and ensuring we had comfortable seating for our meals. Exploring off-the-beaten-path places that most tourists wouldn't venture into was a fascinating experience, as it allowed us to witness the daily lives of Thai locals and their vibrant food culture. As for the cost of this incredible experience, I must emphasize that it is incredibly reasonable, and without a doubt, worth every dollar . Trust me when I say, Annie and Champ , thank you immensely for sharing your culture with us and allowing us to be a part of this unforgettable journey.
