Ao Tanote Beach — Attraction in Surat Thani Province

This is a great beach, one of the best in Koh Tao and its free to use. It's brilliant for swimming and particularly snorkelling. There's coral reef and an amazing array of fish, some of which will swim right next to you. There's a rock formation about 100 metres out from the shore and more proficient swimmers can easily swim around it for some amazing sights. Its quite deep, about 25 metres, but if your snorkelling its well worth the effort. There's a few bars and restaurants right on the beach and toilet facilities. Easy best beach in Koh Tao. Crystal water, A lot of corals making it ideal for snorkeling. For the brave/extreme of us: There is a large rock climbable by attached rope (be careful you fall you die) then up top the view is astonishing as the rock itself is some minutes swim off the beach (but very clear and very reachable) The jump is about 7-10 meters it also depends where you jump from the rock, there are 2 main spots you can jump from up top. Wonderful, somewhat hidden/ away from crowds beach. Perfect water and views. Decent snorkeling too. The marine life is plentiful here - coral is just okay. A few beach restaurants/bars to keep you going. Sand is not great/ a bit taxing on the feet and you need to be careful in the water. Coral is shallow and many people had cuts from it. Getting there isn't the easiest. Incredibly steep hills down. A good workout by foot but it's recommended to be reasonably fit to by foot. Motor bikes make it and 4-wheel...
