Beautiful Viewpoint, Worth the Climb The West Coaster Viewpoint on Koh Tao offers stunning panoramic views and is well worth a visit for those who enjoy a bit of a hike. The trail leading up is quite steep, so it’s best to avoid climbing during the hottest part of the day. Bring water and wear proper footwear. it’s not a long walk, but it can be a bit challenging in the heat. There are two separate viewpoints you can visit, both offering fantastic views over the island and ocean. It’s a peaceful spot, especially if you go early in the morning or late afternoon when there are fewer people. Just sit, relax and enjoy the view. The official entrance fee is 100 baht, which includes a 50 baht drink voucher you can use at the bar. However, we only paid 50 baht and didn’t use the drink voucher. Mainly because I didn’t have more cash on me at the time and cards are not accepted. There’s a toilet available at the bottom, which is handy before or after the climb. Overall, it’s a beautiful, lesser-known viewpoint with rewarding views. Definitely recommended if you’re exploring Koh Tao’s nature and landscapes. We walked all the way from the ferry to Tanote beach, which was a lovely walk.

The second best viewpoint of the island. Pretty accessible by motorcycle, i went there walking but it is much more complicated. Entrance fee of 100 baht but gives you a free drink. Then a little walk through the jungle takes you to the rocks and after sliding yourself in the breach you'll get to experience the stunning view on the island main bay. A great spot for sunset but a great spot at all. During the day do not forget water and sunscreen because it is exposed directly in the sun. A nice place to chill and meditate.

We walked from the main road ALL the way up... it was hard work and in 31⁰C heat we were all a little bit sweaty and worn out by the time we got to the view. You can get a taxi 2/3 of the way up, that would probably be more enjoyable. I'd advise wearing proper shoes/trainers and long trousers for the hike from where you park the scooter. We got bitten a couple of times but nothing else. It will cost you 100 baht to get to the actual view but you do get a drink too.

WARNING: i had a beautiful hike here but whatever you do do NOT approach the dog! i’ve been living in thailand for the last 3 months and consider myself to be confident around friendly/unfriendly dogs and this dog surprised bit me and i had to get driven to the hospital.

the dog lies in the middle of the path and whatever you do do NOT go near or attempt to pet it. i told the owners after that they had to put up a sign as they admitted they knew the dog was aggressive.

beautiful hike, worth it just don’t end up in the...
