I recently visited a simple restaurant around 8 PM. The ambiance was unassuming, but the staff were incredibly nice and gentle, which made the experience pleasant. However, my dining experience had some drawbacks.
I ordered a vegetarian Pad Thai, which was the only dish available at that hour. The noodles were strangely thin and ended up sticking together, making it difficult to enjoy. The flavor profile was a mix of slightly spicy, which I appreciated, but it was overwhelmingly sweet. The presentation of the dish was appealing, and the portion size was moderate—not too little, but not overly generous either.
In terms of ingredients, the dish was quite sparse. It included one scrambled egg, a few slices of cucumber, some pieces of carrot, and a few other vegetables, but the vegetable content was minimal. There were also some nuts and a piece of lime. I could see that they cared about the dish's appearance, but the execution fell short.
I had high expectations for the Pad Thai based on a recommendation, but I was disappointed. The dish was too sweet, the noodles were clumpy, and it seemed like they might have run out of ingredients, as it was predominantly rice noodles. Unfortunately, I was still hungry after finishing my meal and had to eat elsewhere afterward.
Overall, while the staff's hospitality was commendable, the Pad Thai did not live up to its reputation. The price is 70, didn’t take any pic. —— Reply to Kanya Kitchen message:
Thank you for your response. I want to clarify my review and address a few points you mentioned.
First, when I visited your restaurant, I did not have a choice on what to eat. The Pad Thai was recommended and was also listed as a highlight on the restaurant's board. Adding tofu wouldn't have changed my opinion on the dish, as my feedback was based on the overall experience with the Pad Thai itself.
I also want to address your comment about leaving "critical" reviews. I hope this suggestion was not meant to diminish my point of view. While my opinion may be subjective, I believe it is still valid and worth sharing. When I asked for an additional dish, I was told that only Pad Thai was available, which I understood. However, this limited my ability to provide feedback on other dishes.
I’m not used to ask adjustments to my orders. I appreciate your culinary expertise and understand that personal taste varies. While the dish did not meet my expectations, I acknowledge that others may enjoy it. My review was never meant to suggest the food was disgusting; it simply did not align with my preferences.
I have enjoyed many other places and frequently recommend them to friends in person. I will take your suggestion to heart and make an effort to leave more positive reviews for the places I have enjoyed. Thank you for your...
Read moreThe best food in town, really. My first impression was great - being welcomed by two lovely women, who run the kitchen. :)
I came here with 7 people yesterday evening, the women who work here made sure that we all have a place to sit. There are about 10 seats here.
Every dish we ordered was freshly prepared and cooked. We ordered fruit shakes, which were very refreshing and yummy. Everyone of us liked their food, the level of spice and the atmosphere. The only thing that was a little difficult was the fact that we didn’t get our food all at once - but it’s only human. We were 7 guests and there were only two lovely cooks doing their work.
Everything was cheap compared to other restaurants, but the quality is impeccable.
I understand all the other 5 star reviews and recommend this restaurant to everyone who likes good...
Read moreFood was super delicious but don’t go there if you’re very hungry and want something quick. This place gets very crowded and there is a reason for that. The chicken cashew is really their specialty and the no name vegetable was also super good and like nothing else we’ve had. However we had to wait almost 40 minutes for our 1st dish and 1 hour for our last. The good thing is it felt like having a three course menu and you can be sure everything is prepared very fresh. Another small downside is however that they don’t have a toilet which is a little inconvenient. Reply: I asked for a toilet and was told there is none. I don’t why you or the staff are giving wrong...
