Four floors of hot China action. To get to this museum take the green line to Zengjiayan and walk through the long tunnel. You'll get to a square with dance groups, and the museum is right there. The bottom floor has an exhibit about the 3 gorges region of the Yangtze River. The exhibit is not particularly focused and covers everything from wildlife in the area to the types of rock in the gorges. This exhibit was one of the only ones with some English. Other exhibits in the museum include ceramics, calligraphy, minority populations in China, and coins from China's past. Most only in Chinese. Actually the coolest for me was on the top floor. It detailed the life of a Dutch diplomat who studied Chinese in the early 1900s and eventually married a Chongqing lady. He seemed to have lived an interesting life.

Good exhibits on the local area and the Three Gorges, particularly the Ba people that lived here. The geologic history of the gorges was interesting, and I enjoyed that they had river stones from before the dam was put in. They also had an informative, if a bit random, exhibit on all the different minorities throughout China. The top floor was filled with the collection of a benefactor who collected as many things as he could during the Cultural Revolution, so it's a bit of a mish-mash, but there are beautiful ceramics and calligraphy from the various dynasties. My only complaint is there's no air-conditioning in it, so it can get sweltering.

First, i would like to give a notice in advance for all traveller and especially solo traveller, this place closed on every monday. From Tuesday to Sunday, they open until 16:30. The place is quite huge, its amazing. The place is near Chongqing people square, there is a big park. You can see Chongqing People Auditorium from across the place. Huge and enourmous architecture. Near the place there a few restaurant such as KFC and Burger King, some gift store also there.

Beautiful museum showcasing the lives of the people along the 3 gorges and it’s history. Beautiful artifacts and tons of exhibits to explore. Cater at least 2.5hours if you want to explore every exhibit. Don’t miss the amazing 360 panoramic documentary of the before and after construction of the dam and how it affects the look of the Yangtze river.

Museum about the geography, culture and history of the three gorges area of China (Yangtze River Civilisation). Wonderful museum, but there is too much to see! There are too many rooms, by the end we were tired and rushing through the rooms in order to finish our visit sooner. Other than that, it's a great visit with a lot of interesting stuff.

Great museum where you can learn a lots about China history not just of the Three Gorges Damn. You should expect to spend at least an hour here. The place is free of charge. I would give a five-star except for that there a lot of exhibitions with only Chinese description so you can't really know what it is.
