Recently visited the Chaguaramas Board walk with the intent to unwind and reset.
We were able to park opposite the boardwalk for a fee of $20. and walk across the zebra crossing with ease. The board walk is easily accessible from the road with use of some stairs or from walking along the beach shore from the CDA post. There's lots of benches and shady areas provided by the trees and shrubbery. However, it seems, the early bird catches not only the sorm but the better dpots on the beach or boardwalk benches. Just a heads up.
You can walk along the boardwalk until you find a dot to sit in the shade, the benches are wide semi-circles so families or two sets of groups can occupy one once sharing is an option. There's also shops along the road for snacking and soft drink purchases with the occasional cotton candy man traversing the boardwalk looking for a sale.
The scenery, oh the scenery is one of serenity and has the calming effect needed to release and reset. Dipping ones feet in the water is recommended but just being there with the cool breeze, the blue water, fishes jumping and a spotting of a local turtle or swimmer passing by was enough. Very worth the drive down to...
Read moreA once beautiful bay known for calm and warm waters, today a shadow of its glorious days... On my most recent visit this week, the shore-line was riddled was litter and waters closer to where the almond trees stand was murky with pollutants and human debris, I literally had to clear and clean a plot of sand wide enough for my son, and neice to play on.. Then there's the many loose boards on the gallery area that pose a major trip hazard at every other step, I even bumped my toe a few times whilst traversing.. Again we were met with locked doors and dry taps; due to a lack of water at the public convenience/ washrooms. What is being done about maintenance and the upkeep of this facility?? We Trinbagonian Beach-goers as well, need to be more appreciative, and conservative of nature, and our lovely beaches by being responsible and cleaning up...
Read moreYears ago this area used to be nice. However, like many things in Trinidad no one has taken much care of it and the quality of the place has dropped tremendously. The bathrooms are sometimes in a mess, a lot of times there is no water in it, the car park needs fixing, the beach and even in the water is dirty. The last time I went into the water I could feel bottles on the ground. During holidays or busy times, because it's one way in/out there can be a lot of traffic. Besides all these negatives, the view is beautiful and it is generally a nice place to hang out. There is a paved car park before the boardwalk that is in better condition...
