Avocat Waterfall — Attraction in Tunapuna-Piarco

Avocat is one of the most stunning waterfalls in Trinidad. There are 3 main ways to get to the falls.

Pay to park in a lot off the arima-blanchisseuse road. From there, walk down the track to the river then head downstream (left) until you reach the intersection where you are faced with the option to continue downstream or go upstream. At this point you need to go upstream and the falls will be just around the corner.

This option is the most popular as it is the easiest and fastest way to get to the falls.

Park at the spring bridge and walk as though you’re going to three pools, but instead of following the trail alongside the river, you need to take a another trail off to the right (denoted by orange markers) which goes up a hill. This trail will bring you to the same intersection mentioned above.

This option is more of a hike, since you have to ascend and descend a hill of about 170m elevation. Takes roughly an hour or so to go one way (depending on fitness).

Park at the spring bridge. Go to three pools. Go upstream until you reach Avocat. It’s that simple! … sort of… not really.

This option is very wet and physically demanding. Please don’t do this unless you are very good at dealing with water and rocks.

On 19th August 2023, my bf took me to this waterfall for our anniversary celebration. The drive was very romantic. The hike was easy and enjoyable, walking along the river. It was raining, and the waterfall was amazing and the water was refreshing. We hike to the top of the waterfall as well. There are 2 houses as the start which charge $40 to park, a shed to relax and eat, a tap to washoff, a clean changing room and toilet...
