Yerettê - The Home of the Hummingbird, is encapsulated in an aura of tranquility, peace, joy and healing.
Upon entering the humble abode of Mr. & Mrs. Ferguson. We were greeted with the melodious humming and chirping of the Hummingbirds emanating from the couple's dainty flower garden.
The sight was one to marvel at. Never had we seen so many Hummingbirds in the same place at the same time. The astonishing birds proudly displayed themselves in all their glory. They hovered gracefully around us, showing off their agility and speed as the flew past our faces and came close to stare from time to time. We certainly were in much more awe of them than they were of us.
As Dr. Ferguson engaged us, he humbly imparted his vast knowledge about the humming birds and their undeniable importance to the Amerindian people of Trinidad.
While my brain soaked in the new knowledge, my eyes were mesmerized by the sight of these exuberant birds. After a scenic and romantic stroll in the enchanting garden, and a light indulgence in a delicious layout of evening tea prepared by Mrs. Ferguson, our evening concluded with a presentation put together by Dr. Ferguson featuring phenomenal photos taken by himself.
It was an enriching experience being at Yerettê. As a Trinidadian residing here, it is awe-inspiring to know that a place like this exists where knowledge can be passed down to us about our own country, that will continue to cultivate our sense of...

Read moreWhat an incredible experience! The hosts were both warm and passionate. Even making an effort to learn all of the visitors names. We sat in the patio area for around an hour learning about the Hummingbirds from what must be their biggest fan, Theo. He also shared with us his information about Trinidad and the Carribean and the affects of colonisation, which as a foreigner willing to learn, I found very insightful. I listened and laughed while being surrounded by these incredible little creatures. Then walked around the small garden filled with lots of different hummingbirds, trying to spot different types. If you want an upclose and personal wildlife experience, with a delicious light lunch cooked with love by the lovely Gloria and a talk with a host with huge personality, I really recommend. These people welcome you so warmly into their garden and their home for a personal and unique experience unlike other corporate and exploitative wildlife businesses. These animals are wild and free and cherished! Thank you so much...
