This is one of a handful of Byzantine cave churches carved into the tuff rock that you can enter and see while hiking through Rose and Red Valleys. It is located just 5 minutes away from another impressive ancient church called Cross Church (or Crusaders Church). Column Church was constructed around 1000 AD and is known for its massive standing columns and vaulted ceiling for which the church name is taken. It is fully enclosed and accessed by way of a short bridge. There are several rooms inside. You'll also find later period pigeon homes carved into the interior of Column Church.

An amazingly intact and detailed cave church. Definitely make a point to go. The space is incredibly well preserved, complete with columns and vaulted ceilings. Very accessible, but be sure to make it past the first chamber to make it to the church itself. Can be hard to find in the dark, especially before the eyes adjust.

This is the most interesting church to visit in the valleys near Göreme. Inside on the second floor is a huge room with carved columns and a dome. It all looks very impressive. As far as I understood, there are 4 floors in this church, each of which I visited. The last photo shows a kind of tunnel, which I decided not to go into as it gets too small for me...

Kolonlu kilise diyor yerel halk. Kızılçukur vadisinde yürürken vadiden aşağı doğru inen bir yol var . Kızılvadi foto noktasının yanında yer alıyor. Bunun haricinde 2. bir yol var. Biz 2. Yolu kullandık. Star box cafe ye kadar yukarıdan yürüdük sonra burada dinlenip tekrar geri döndük. Star box cafe ye yakın aşağı doğru inen taş merdivenler var. Buradan vadinin aşağısına indik. Biraz ilerde sağda Anna Johachim kilisesi var. Kapalı. Geri dönüp patikayı takip edince 5-10 dakika sonra Kolonlu Kilise yi görüyorsunuz. Tabela yok. Tahta köprüyü görmeniz gerekiyor. Nevşehir de en beğendiğim kilise diyebilirim. Sonra tekrar patikayı takip edip kızılvadi foto noktasının olduğu yere çıktık. Farklı patikalar var. Star box cafeye kadar yürüyüp cafenin arkasında yukarıya doğru çıkan patika var oradan tekrar vadinin girişine geri dönebilirsiniz ya da star box cafeden Çavuşin köyüne gidebilirsiniz. Halkı çok yardımcı oluyor zaten , sağolsunlar. Yürüme konusunda sıkıntı yoksa gerçekten çok keyifliydi. Buraya gidenlere söylüyorum. Yerlere sakın çöp atmayın. Toplanılacak yerler...
