We visited Güray Müze and upon arrival received a warm and friendly welcome. The underground museum is beautifully designed as a treat in itself. We had a look through the museum and gallery that showcased historic ceramic pieces and some modern art by local artists. We were then entranced by a pottery demonstration, where an artisan made forming a vase look effortless but I know it is not. Next was a browse through their shop, it had work by the ceramic masters and other ceramics varying in prices. I went home with a gorgeous plate by one of the esteemed Güray masters and other cheaper pieces. Everything we bought was wrapped and packed for safe air travel and we were again seen off with a smile. A...

This is truly a hidden gem. I came to visit the museum shop only, not the museum to see if I can bag some local craft home. I didn't, but that doesn't make the visit to the museum a regrettable one. The underground museum shop with lots of terracotta and ceramic pieces are truly a feast to the eyes. Even if you didn't settle for anything, the museum shop itself is a piece of art. Highly recommend coming to this place. If you managed to get something, it's a bonus and pat yourself in the back that you didn't get ripped off some art galleries because all pieces here are endorsed by the museum and they house local artisan works. Very authentic experience. Massive collection. Very knowledgeable...

We wanted an activity on a rainy day in cappadocia as most activities are outdoor so we chose this museum. Reviews are mixed so we just had to see it for ourselves. A small museum but worth a visit. 200TL for adult and 50TL for students. It has many different ceramic artifacts from different eras. The shop is indeed bigger than the museum, but if you’re a ceramic/pottery enthusiast, this place is your heaven! Pieces are affordable as most are hand made (for a reference a medium size decorative plates were 350TL. A large glow in the dark is 450TL) . There are also a glow in the dark section. Gave 4/5 since I do wish there’s more explanations for each...

10 Things to do in Cappadocia: - Visit @sultan_carpets in Göreme for authentic handmade carpets and try on traditional dresses - Visit the Kaymakli Underground City, with multiple floors down, carved tunnels and rooms, and that was once populated by thousands of people hiding from the enemy. Currently, only a fraction of this large underground city is open to the public. (Do not recommend if you feel uneasy in tight spaces). - Visit Uçhisar Kalesi (Castle), a metres-high rock formation with numerous rooms and passageways which served as residential areas and are now blocked. You can visit the Castle and enjoy the beautiful views. - Stop by Güray Pottery Museum for a pottery workshop and some shopping of authentic and handmade ceramics. - If you fancy doing a photoshoot with a vintage car with fairy chimneys in the background, @arik_photoart and @fms_filmmaker are your guys. - Enjoy the beautiful natural rock formations at Göreme National Park. - Eat the most delicious local food at @gorgolilounge. Other places to eat: @museumhotel, @therevithia, Ziggy Café and Restaurant in Ürgüp and @kadineli_restoran. If you fancy some wine, stop by @kocabagwines, for a local wine tasting. - Visit Göreme Open Air Museum - this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a valley with rock-carved churches with beautiful frescoes and home to monks. - Visit Pasabag Valley, a beautiful place to see Fairy Chimneys. Fairy Chimneys or Hoodoos, are tall rock formations formed by erosion. - And finally, you must go on a Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride. You must be prepared for an early start but it’s so worth it! I will never forget this magical experience! ✨ Is Cappadocia on your travel bucket list? Underground museum of pottery. Cool on a hot day and cool being completely made up of excavated tunnels. Artefacts from many years BC are displayed in large niches cut into the walls, lit and faces with glass. This also brings out the character of the rock. As part of our tour we also got to see a pot making demo with a kick-wheel, and some hand painting. All the items they produce are hand painted, apparently some can take 6 months! There are a great many items you can buy. I particularly like the wine decanters with the hole in the middle. It is clearly high quality, but a bit expensive for my pocket.
