Tranquil Retreat with Personalized Service
We recently stayed in the tents here and were thoroughly impressed by every aspect of this experience!
Ease of Transport: Getting to the glamping site was a breeze thanks to the convenient ferry service. It added an extra layer of excitement to the journey.
Staff Friendliness and Personalized Service: The staff at Butterfly Valley went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional. From the warm welcome to the personalized recommendations, their hospitality was truly unmatched. They even arranged a magical beach bonfire, which made our stay even more memorable. We were able to learn about the history and culture. One evening, when my boyfriend had a sore throat, the chef kindly prepared him soothing tea with handpicked mint from the garden, showcasing their genuine care for guests.
Tranquility: Nestled amidst nature, Butterfly Valley offered a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our first night on the island, with no other guests in sight (it was not high tourist season) we were treated to the best beachfront tent, which was nothing short of perfection.
Power and Fan: Despite being in the midst of nature, the glamping tents were equipped with all the necessary amenities, including power outlets and a fan. This ensured a comfortable stay even on warmer days.
Swimming: The highlight of our stay was definitely the opportunity to swim in the crystal-clear waters in front of the tent. It was the perfect way to connect with nature.
Communication: Communication with the staff was seamless. They were always readily available to address any queries or concerns, making us feel well taken care of.
One Con: Party Boats Disturbance. While Butterfly Valley offers a tranquil retreat, the party boats blaring music and DJs during the day disrupted the serenity. However, they only come around 10am-4pm so we easily found other activities to enjoy, such as hiking into the valley.
Bathrooms and Wildlife: The bathrooms, while camping-style, provided hot water and good pressure, ensuring comfort during our stay. Additionally, the charming presence of free-roaming chickens and animals added to the naturist charm of the valley.
Overall, Butterfly Valley Glamping (check Airbnb) exceeded our expectations in every way possible. We changed our entire plans and stayed an extra night. It's the perfect destination for anyone seeking a tranquil retreat with personalized service and delicious food! I can't...
Read moreSuch an amazing little hike.
If you’re coming in land get a taxi to George House (a little hotel at the beginning of the walk). From there follow the sign for butterfly valley and turn right after about 100metres (look for the red dots on the rocks) and don’t head straight past as it will take you on a detour for about 30minutes!!!
You then follow the rocky path down for about 45mins if you’re going at a good pace.
There are a few tricky parts to this walk as you traverse the valley including about 4 rope sections which are fine but if you’ve not got a head for heights then maybe consider getting the water taxi straight to the beach instead.
Going down is slower than the ascent back up as it can be a little slippery on the rocks.
Definitely wouldn’t recommend doing it if it is raining unless you’re a capable hiker with walking boots and the appropriate gear to deal with the rain.
Once you are down to the bottom it’s amazing. We were there off-season at the beginning of November so the small bar was open selling beers and other drinks but that’s it.
It is very peaceful with the occasional boat coming in with tourists for 30mins or so. Wait for them to leave and you pretty much get the whole beach to yourself. Give yourself an hour or 2 once you’re there to have a swim before hiking back up. We hiked back up in about 40mins and found it easier than coming down.
A few things to take:
Good sturdy shoes or at least trainers with some grip as there are some tough rocky sections.
You don’t need to be really fit but don’t go down if you’re not used to walking hills. You will need to pull yourself up some of the ropes sections. But it’s not difficult and are only about 5-10metres long.
Take some food if going off season and your swimming gear - the water is beautiful.
There’s not many butterflies but who cares!?!?
You can always hike down and water taxi it back to Oludeniz.

Read moreBackground: I came to volunteer for Butterfly Valley for the summer season — I stayed for 3 weeks total with intentions to transfer as a paid employee. I was working at the bar as a barmaid. My first week was fine, the valley itself is beautiful, many fun activities planned daily by other volunteers and personel, daily breakfast and dinner, personel is very friendly and welcoming.
In terms of free food provided for personel/volunteers there are no vegetarian options available. You might get lucky one day if they decide to cook something vegetarian, if not, you are stuck with what they prepare in which if you are a worker, you must buy food from the market. The guests have vegetarian options.
As far as my experience as a working individual at this valley, the communication and management is very bad. There is heavy favoritism and disrespect to the people who are contributing their time as a -volunteer- (keep in mind we are here on our own free will and not getting paid.) Many of whom, quit within their first few days or week because of the lack of coordination and appreciation.
The tents for guests are average to nice, depending on the tent you book. There is always electricity and fans available to guests.
If you are coming as a guest, I am sure you will have a great time. Yet, the behind-the-scenes you witness as a worker in this establishment is unbelievable. The work-place environment with management is very toxic and mentally-draining.
I would not come again even as a guest.
To the amazing personel who, despite the working environment, made you feel welcome and appreciated, thank you for making this interesting experience turn into something I can...
