A must see spot if you're visiting Antalya. The park is actually the Upper Duden Falls and is located approx 10km north of the city. There are local buses which drop you off a few blocks away and a taxi ride is approx 350TL. Admission to the park is 70TL per person and they accept cash or credit cards.
The Lower Duden Falls is located in the Lara Section of Antalya. Here the river cascades into the Mediterranean Sea. Your best view of these falls would be from a boat.
Duden park is a great place for a beautiful stroll under numerous shady trees. If you have kids, they'll love it and there's even a playground for them. There are numerous snack shops and a few nice restaurants with a great view of the rushing river. Along the trail to the waterfalls you'll encounter a large bat cave with hundreds of very active bats about 10-20 meters up. The cave is open but I would advise not stepping into it because bats are not careful about where they go to the bathroom. You might not like the results of entering the cave.
Next along the path there are two beautiful parrots (they accept tips). They pose for pictures and occasionally have quarrels but nothing serious. They have their own books available for sale.
At the end of the path are the falls, a stunning sight and often there are ducks that float down the river using the strong current looking for kind people to throw them a snack. There's a wide area at the end of the path and to the left are stairs which will lead up to caves with a great side view of the falls Watch your head because there are many low ceilings.
Within the park there are several sites for photos including the remainder of an aqueduct system and foundations from...
Read more"A Disappointing Visit to Düden Şelalesi"
• Overall Experience I recently visited Düden Şelalesi and, unfortunately, I would rate my experience a low 2/5. While the area surrounding the waterfall has some scenic beauty, the visit overall was quite underwhelming.
• Waterfall Appearance The waterfall itself is not particularly captivating. It lacks the grandeur or striking features that one might expect from a natural attraction, making it less appealing than anticipated.
• Limited Attractions Aside from the immediate vicinity of the waterfall, there are very few attractions to explore. The surrounding area does not offer engaging activities or sights, which further diminishes the overall experience.
• Transportation Issues Transportation to Düden Şelalesi is exceedingly poor. Accessing the site can be quite challenging, as public transport options are limited and may require long waits or complicated transfers. This makes visiting the site more of a hassle than a pleasure.
• Maintenance Concerns Additionally, I observed that some areas of the park could use better maintenance, with pathways that are not well-kept. This detracts from the overall enjoyment and accessibility of the site.
• Recommendation In summary, while the nearby area has some charm, I cannot recommend making a special trip to Düden Şelalesi. It may be worth a brief stop if you happen to be nearby, but for those seeking a more rewarding outdoor experience, I would suggest...
Read moreScammed by an ice cream man
Right outside the waterfall we were scammed by a shop that sells ice cream My sister had seen a small sign saying a scoop of normal ice cream was 50 lira, when we asked him for a scoop, he opened his turkish ice cream cart immediately and started his ice cream performance. We didn’t really think too much of it because we didn’t think the turkish ice cream would cost all that much.
Once his performance was over, he gave the ice cream to us and asked for 400 lira. For context, this price is absolutely ridiculous because we have had turkish ice cream in istanbul (which is also an expensive city) for 200 and 100 lira.
We didn’t want to make a scene, so we paid and left, but I was truly frustrated and disappointed by this interaction. Yes, we should’ve asked for the price of the turkish ice cream before he gave it to us. I don’t think this is about whether we were gullible, but rather how he took advantage of the goodwill and trust we place in strangers.
All I hope is in solidarity, none of you buy ice cream from this man, or if u do, ask for the price first.
Side note, the waterfall was scenic and peaceful,...
