Love it The population grew rapidly from the 70's onwards when, following the building of the Bosphorus Bridge, it became possible to commute from here to the city. Buses along the D100 highway to the bridge, and minibuses to the ferry docks at Kadıköy now carry lower-middle class commuters (the wealthier preferring to live in smarter areas nearer the city, in Kadıköy itself). These people live either in quiet tree-lined streets of four- to six-storey apartment building with gardens around them, or in modern housing complexes with tennis-courts, children's playgrounds and security guards on the gate.

Being generally cheaper than Kadıköy, Maltepe is popular with young-families and newlyweds. During the earthquake of 1999 Maltepe suffered badly and many tall apartment blocks needed structural repair, some still bear the cracks of structural damage, something which reduced the price of property in Maltepe considerably. Over the past two years however, prices have risen again despite warnings that Maltepe is always under threat from earthquakes in the future.

The E5 highway cuts through Maltepe and north of the highway is the poorer area of Başıbüyük, a tree-covered hill with a hospital on it (formerly Istanbul's tuberculosis isolation hospital) and also a large cemetery. But it does have a great view of the coastline and the islands. A large proportion of the residents are from the Black Sea coast and there are some excellent bakeries and Akçaabat kofte restaurants (traditional to that area of Turkey). Maltepe used to border Ümraniye from the northwest between 1992 and 2004. However, the Yeni Çamlıca quarter changed to Ümraniye in 1994 and the Ferhatpaşa quarter passed to Samandıra where bounded to Kartal district in 2004. Ferhatpaşa's secession led to ending of neighbourhood between Maltepe...

Maltepe Beach Park is a beautiful park located on the shores of the Sea of Marmara. It is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, offering stunning views of the Bosphorus Strait and the Prince's Islands.

The park is a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. There are plenty of benches and picnic tables to sit and enjoy the scenery. There is also a playground for children, as well as a walking and biking path that runs along the beach.

The park is also home to a number of restaurants and cafes, making it a great place to grab a bite to eat or drink while enjoying the views.

Here are some of the things you can do at Maltepe Beach Park:

Take a walk or bike ride along the beach path. Sit on a bench or picnic table and enjoy the views. Play with your children at the playground. Have a picnic in the park. Have lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants and cafes. Take a ferry to the Prince's Islands.

Tips for visiting Maltepe Beach Park:

The park is busiest during the summer months, so it is best to visit during the shoulder season (April-May and September-October) if possible. Wear comfortable shoes, as you will be doing a lot of walking. Bring a hat and sunscreen, especially if you are visiting during the summer months. Be aware of your surroundings and take precautions to protect yourself from pickpockets.

Overall:

Maltepe Beach Park is a beautiful park with a lot to offer visitors. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors, as well as to enjoy the views of the Bosphorus Strait and the...

This is absolutely a fabulous and spacious place to be. As opposed to people saying it was crowded on weekends, I beg to differ. I was here on a Saturday afternoon and was still able to get a place to sit. It's really huge and has a view of the sea. There's also a very large field where anyone interested in soccer or outdoor games can play. The view from the field is so cool. Entering the garden area, I was so elated as it gave me joy or a calm and serene environment. In there, I found couples relaxing and families celebrating birthdays. It's a good relaxation spot. There are rest room there but no place to change for babies. There's also a place where people can skate. To reiterate again, the park is huge!!! And I didn't have time to explore...

This please is mind blowing and interting part is they have caravan parking with mothky fees of 50 USD only which unbelievable. I have heard this park is 24x7 open and it really really exiting. I haven't been to any such park in Europaen side, if any one knows such please let me know. The park also has restaurant, tea coffee and snacks on wheels, bicycle on rent, electric scooter on rent, nice and clean area of get-together.

One of the largest public parks in Istanbul, located in Maltepe in the Asian part of Istanbul on the coast of the Marmara Sea. The park is very cool, large green spaces for picnics, many areas for children to play, many sports fields, walking and bike paths, etc. There is a water canal with small bridges that cross it. There is a place where you can rent cycling carts and bicycles. There is a beautiful and modern mosque. Other facilities such as public toilets are available. The park is very beautiful and very relaxing, a very good place to watch the amazing sunset! Highly recommended!
