Lara Beach — Attraction in Muratpaşa

APAULING!!! Turned up to the beach only to find out that there is no such thing as lara Beach as the whole beach is section off into 4 - 5 different zones all named different names. There are no signs to say what each beach offers what so its pretty much a guessing game when it comes to which section to pick. First of all the beach was not sandy at all, coming from the UK I have never come across a beach so gravelly, it's litrally fine bits of gravel with certain parts having so much litter and twigs that it's impossible to walk on the beach without any appropriate footwear otherwise your feet maybe in for a unpleasant treat. Secondly we was dropped off by the taxi driver only to have to walk another half a mile down the beach to get to where we thought we needed to be. Only to be approached by a silly security guard who could barley speak a word of English ordering me to not proceed further and rudley asking me why I was there. Well it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why I'm walking on the beach in my shades n shorts minding my own business. And the worst part was everybody on the beach was seemingly enjoying them selves not being bothered by security at all which was strange. So we were told not to proceed as the area was apperently out of bounds for tourist. So we then decided to walk further up the beach where we had come to a restaurant. As we were ordering food having not eaten all morning, we weren't even able to take a seat at the restaurant before the security guard turned up behind us again asking us what were doing here and what we wanted to order. I thought this was rather strange as the waitress had almost already taken our order so we had a back and thorth conversation on Google translater once again he proceeded with his strange remarks and questions so I told him that his behaviour was rather intimidating and he had put me off eating at the restaurant so I walked out with the Mrs. Excursions are over priced and worst of all the attitude of the staff was seriously appalling to say the least. I am not a fan of any beaches no matter how beautiful there are? Anyway, my friend insisted we go so I agreed. What a nightmare for us? We stayed at grand park lara antalya. We walked front one end to the other and were chased by the each hotels security guards just because we asked one of their security guards we wanted to go back to our hotel. Was it OK for us to take a short cuts? He was kind and helpful. He said it was ok. So off we walked and we were about couple of hundred yards to the main road that would take us back to our hotel. Came along another probably a senior security guard asking us where we were going to? We explained where we stayed and showed him our wrists bands. Told him the first security guard in the back saying it was ok for us to take short cuts. He firmly said 'NO' and was very rude to us. He told us to walked along and take left turn and that would take us to our hotel. Off we walked and walked and each time we got there we were chased away by another security guard in total five security guards grrrrr. Our feet and souls were pretty painful because I was wearing flip flop and the sands kept rubbing it. My calfs was swollen badly. Close to five pm it started getting dull and the sun was not smiling anymore and was always to sleep lol. I started having anxiety which was bad. We just kept walking to where we first started. Thank God I saw an old man and asked for his 'Help' to get us a taxi to take us back to our hotel. He doesn't speak English so here come my hands sign etc. Thank god. He understood me and he called us a taxi. Never again! By the way, it was a nice beach nothing...

I never found a beach called Lara. I took a bus and got off at Palm Beach, which was not a beach so I kept walking north. Several beach access entries were blocked, so I walked until I found one unblocked because it went thru a restaurant which was closed, but I walked along the shore for a good 45 minutes until I came to a resort that seemed closed and still in building process. There was one restaurant opened on the beach. No other facilities. But the resort had one shop opened and it got me back to the street where there was a town. So the beach is combination of sand and pebbles. To get sand best to go during low tide. A number of locals were fishing. There were plastic bottles strewn around, but I saw a beach tractor "sweeping" the beach. This was late January, so probably during the tourist season it'll be better manicured. Was it worth it? Not if you're looking only for sand. The sand is thick and deep. It was not an easy walk. But it was mostly desolate so it was worth my experience. The water...
