Bath Basilica complex was located on the north side of the city, out of the city gates. The bath was dated to the 3rd Century AD., but later in 6th Century AD an apse was added to the central part and it was turned into a church. The back wall of the building was leaned during an earthquake. The consolidation works are continuing to protect this wall with all the traces of the eartquake. In ancient times to purification and cleaning before entering the city was a common tradition in Anatolia, or they would not accepted the city. Therefore the bath buildings were generally located at the outskirts of the city. This was an important sign of sensitivity of ancient Anatolian people about the cleaning and protecting...

Hierapolis was founded as a thermal spa early in the 2nd century BCE and given by the Romans to Eumenes II, king of Pergamon in 190 BCE..The ancient city of Hierapolis was built on top of Pamukkale, the white 'castle' which is in total about 2,700 metres (8,860 ft) long, 600 m (1,970 ft) wide and 160 m (525 ft) high..Hierapolis is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
