Built on Plutonion, known as a religious and ancient cave, the Hierapolis Temple of Apollo is one of the oldest religious centers of the local people. Apollo met with Kybele, the Mother Goddess, in the region. Some of the old sources wrote that the priest of the Mother Goddess Kybele descended into this cave, but was not affected by the release of poisonous gas.
