Shopping before the boat cruise was fantastic, was able to get some really nice pieces and souvenirs. There were dancers that literally welcomed you into the area before you board. My group and I were able to get leave the boat and literally step into the source of the Nile. The water was cool and rocks were slippery, so be careful if you decide to do it. On this side of the river there are a lot of local fisherman who would be happy to take you to the source island for a much lower fare than the tourist boats. Just walk down the hill that is behind the fence by the railway crossing - it’s public land so just open the gate! A local guard tried to ask us for money but there is no charge to be there.
