White Water Rafting with Juma and Team

My partner Kim and I recently had the extraordinary privilege of embarking on a white-water rafting adventure with Nile River Explorers, led by the exceptional Juna and supported by an incredible team of eight dedicated staff. To say it was the experience of a lifetime would be an understatement!

From the very beginning, Juma and his team made us feel like royalty. Despite being just the two of us, the effort, attention, and care they provided rivaled what you'd expect for a much larger group. Every detail was meticulously planned, and their professionalism, expertise, and passion for the river were evident every step of the way. Juma is a true professional who knows the river like the back of his hand.

The rapids themselves were exhilarating beyond belief – a perfect mix of thrill and beauty that only the Nile could offer. Juma’s calm confidence and unparalleled skill as our guide gave us the courage to tackle each rapid head-on, turning what might have been daunting into sheer joy. He ensured we felt safe while pushing us to embrace the adventure fully.

The team of eight staff were nothing short of amazing. They worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure everything ran seamlessly, from preparing top-notch safety equipment to providing delicious meals that kept us energized. Their camaraderie and positive energy were contagious, making the entire experience feel like we were part of a family.

What stood out most was the personal touch – the feeling that this trip wasn’t just a job for them but a passion they wanted to share. Having the whole team dedicated to just the two of us was humbling and made the adventure feel uniquely ours.

If you're considering a white-water rafting experience, Nile River Explorers should be at the top of your list. Juma and his team don’t just guide you down the river; they create memories that will last a lifetime. Kim and I will be talking about this adventure for years to come.

Special thanks to Paul as well for his efforts capturing the memories for us and staying back to make sure we got copies of all of his videography.

Thank you team, for an unforgettable journey. The Nile River and your team’s exceptional spirit have left a mark on our...

That was the WORST rafting experience I have ever had, and I have done rafting in many places worldwide. That is NOT a rafting activity. Totally overrated. It should be called as a rafting boat trip around the nile. Most of the time you are paddeling and you only enjoy 4 rapids during 2 hours. It was probably a great place for rafting before the dam was build, but nowadays is no longer a rafting river, but a flat water rafting. UNPROFESIONAL and NOT MOTIVATED staff. The safety talk was poor and without any interest. No explanation during the activity about the rapids ans safety meaures in each rapid. The guide put us in DANGER. On the las rapid of the activity, the guide flipped the boat in a really dangerous area. Two of us went dirctly to the rocks and the other 4 got trapped under the rapid. Fortunatley, the kayak safe us from the rocks although I have my legs full of black and blues. The WORST of all is that after the incident neither the guide or the staff talk to us anymore. Not for explaing what happened, not for asking if we were OK, and, of course, not apologizing for anything. Totally OVERPRICED and OVERRATED. You pay 140$ for what is suposed to be one of the best rafting experiences worldwide, but what you get is: falt water rafting, really poor meal on the boat!!!! (you can imagine how flat the water is, since you have the meal om the boat) (they give you a sandwich, cookies and pineapple), they do not even record and take photos of the exprience. NONE ACCOUBTABILITY. After explaining all what happened to the staff, the only answer we got was: I will speak with the manager... there was NO kind of accountability neither will to compensate what we went through, literally, they do not gave a sh*t.

Thus, avoid this company at any cost, they will put you in danger, but also avoid doing the activity, if you expect a great...

We had a great time rafting the Nile with Nile River Explorers and also staying in their accommodation for 2 nights. The rafting experience was fun, adrenaline-fuelled and a professional operation. Josh our guide explained everything very well to us and we went through all the safety procedures and how to hold on to the kayaks should that be needed. He was able to adapt the experience to the group needs too, as after we’d flipped once on a grade 5, the group didn’t want to flip again on the last rapid so we were able to take the easier route and didn’t flip that time. We enjoyed the periods of floating and paddling in between the rapids too and our pineapple and biscuits! All guides and safety kayakers very friendly and helpful, and loved seeing the photos and videos the photographer took too! We had beers and wraps on the bud on the way back. Unfortunately they’d forgotten to check if there were any vegetarians in the group and there were several so couldn’t eat the chicken wrap. But they acted swiftly to reciting the mistake and provided each a veggie burger with chips on arrival back to camp. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend either the rafting or the...

NRE offers a fantastic base while you're visiting the Jinja area. We stayed for three nights. Pros: The views (!!), Staff are fabulous, showers (hot), activities on offer and price ($35/night for a safari tent with amazing views). Cons: This is a party place - we were kept up past 2am in both the safari tents and the double en suite. You just can't get away from the noise. As an aside, in all our time in East Africa, this is the place I got bitten by insects the most - and we stayed in the Camp next door too without any problems! On our last night we actually had to move out of our tent because the bed was crawling with ants - we never ate in the tent, had no snacks and no drinks but sealed bottles of water. The staff responded brilliantly and we were offered a free upgrade to a double en suite room straight away. It's certainly not NRE's fault but worth bearing in mind.

The Rafting experience is amazing! We took our kids down the rapids too, and our guide always made us feel safe. We stayed in the family lodge, which was good for one night. But the music and partying never stopped, and for my kids it was not good watching this, whilst trying to order dinner. I would recommend the Backpackers lodge down the road. The staff there is amazing and it's more family friendly. We had to wait for over an hour for a basic breakfast, very slow service...

We went for a Grade 5 rafting without any experience and it was amazing! Juma our rafting guide was really good and made us feel comfortable and made sure that we enjoy the ride! We were impressed by the number of crew members that are with us to ensure our safety. We capsized once but the safety kayakers were so good that they were able to pick us up quickly! Thanks again to Juma, Tim, Paul, and the rest of the crew! We definitely recommend booking your rafting with them :)
