Overall: Not the experience we were expecting. Had had previously done the Dubai equivalent over 10years ago and expected this to be better and more developed but it wasn’t. Pros and Cons below.
Pros: Our driver, Salim, was excellent. I cannot speak highly of him. He picked us up early, even after a hotel mix up. He made sure we had plenty of time to stop for wildlife, and that we arrived at the top of the dunes first before the rest of the group to ensure we could take our pictures unobstructed. He also provided us with a few laughs too which was nice.
The food was great. Lots of variety. The bbq food was the best of the lot, some of the best chicken shawarma I’ve had.
Entertainment. Highlight of the night was the fire dancer, he was simply amazing!
Cons: The setting wasn’t as modern as I had expected it to be. There was still a slight feel of ‘outdatedness’ to the whole thing.
Prices once you’re there aren’t cheap. Alcohol and shisha (at your table) we’re almost on par with typical London prices which was not reflected in the quality. In addition, the shisha was advertised as being free but in actual fact it turned out that it was only free if you sat away from the entertainment and not if you wanted the comfort of having it at your table.
The ending of the night was rushed. As soon as the entertainment finished we were asked to hurry up and leave even though we had drinks to finish and a shisha pipe on the go.
The photographer there is also a bit of scam. We paid for pictures to be edited before being sent and at the time of writing this review I am still waiting for them to be sent to me. They were nice pictures, amazing views, but not worth the price when a simple edit request cannot be fulfilled.
Overall, if staying in Ras Al Khaima, I would endure the long journey time and pay a little extra for the Dubai version of the desert safari. However, if you’re on a budget then I would recommend this.
Anyone who reads this review and does book, ask for Salim as...

We had an incredible desert safari with our guide, Salem.
Pick-up from our hotel was exactly on time, which set the tone for a well-organized trip. On arrival at Desert Inn, the quads were ready and waiting. At first, we were pushed to purchase scarves at 300 AED (around £20 each) – far too expensive, considering they should be closer to 50 AED. After a bit of haggling though, we cheekily managed to get them all for 150 AED, which felt like a small win before heading out on the quads.
The quad biking was advertised as 30 minutes and ended up being around 25, which was more than enough time to enjoy the ride. Afterward, we returned to Desert Inn where the evening show and dinner took place.
The show was exceptional – truly the highlight of the night and far superior to others I’ve seen in Dubai. The buffet itself was fairly average, but in the desert, expectations are different, and the quality of the entertainment more than made up for it.
Overall, this desert safari was outstanding. I’ve experienced similar trips in Dubai, but this one was better. Salem’s guidance, the atmosphere, and especially the show made it a memorable evening. Highly recommended for anyone...
Read moreWhat a unique, fun, well managed and thoroughly enjoyable experience. We opted for the private tour (relates to car only) and our driver was polite, professional and a pleasure to be in the company of. Events were well managed, the schedule clear, and really well timed with just enough time to enjoy all activities without the sense of being rushed or waiting around. All staff we encountered were great fun and really friendly - there was an overwhelming sense of "team" throughout which was great to see. The dune bashing was a hoot (getting stuck was the best part, be aware if you get motion sickness though as this had all of our tummies upside down!), as was the ATV riding (we went out into the desert after dark and what an incredible experience that was) and the sand-surfing. As with all set ups like this, you do get "sold to" throughout the day - from scarves for round your head to photo-shoots etc - but this was never pushy and a polite "no thanks" was always respected. The photo's were great mind, and well worth what we spent. Food was plentiful, of decent quality and very tasty. Drinks reasonably priced. Overall a great value for money, endlessly enjoyable and highly...
