Good use automated detection systems, including machine learning models, that scan the millions of contributions we receive each day to detect and remove policy-violating content. In the case of fake reviews, our systems check every single review before it gets published to Google Maps, looking for signs of fake content. Our machine learning models watch out for specific words and phrases, examine patterns in the types of content an account has contributed in the past, and can detect suspicious review patterns.
While we’re constantly improving our automated systems, we know they’re not perfect as fake reviews can slip through from time to time. So we also deploy teams of trained operators and analysts who audit reviews, photos, business profiles and other types of content both individually and in bulk. And we provide a way for anyone to flag reviews, inappropriate content and misleading places for removal.
Sorting through the 20 million contributions we receive each day (that’s more than 7 billion contributions a year), in 2019 alone, our technologies and teams:
Removed more than 75 million policy-violating reviews and 4 million fake business profiles thanks to refinements in our machine learning models and automated detection systems which are getting better at blocking policy-violating content and detecting anomalies for our operators to review
Took down more than 580,000 reviews and 258,000 business profiles that were reported directly to us, as we make it easier for people to flag...
Read moreI've been consistently disappointed with the Carrefour at CENTURY MALL in Dubai, Al Mamzar. It's the only Carrefour I go to, and each time, I struggle to find the items I need. The store seems filled with products that no one is interested in purchasing, making the whole shopping experience frustrating.
The fresh meat and poultry section is particularly problematic. The staff there, mostly Arabic, have proven to be unhelpful and seemingly biased towards Arabic customers. Their one-word answers and incompetence in assisting customers create a hostile environment.
On one occasion, I asked a butcher to remove the skin from chicken legs, a reasonable request for someone in his position. Shockingly, he claimed they don't provide such a service, even though skinless chicken legs were supposedly out of stock. It's perplexing to encounter a butcher who is unwilling to fulfill basic customer requests.
Given these consistent issues, I'd rather travel a few extra miles to another supermarket where I can find what I need and receive competent and unbiased assistance from the staff. This Carrefour has left me with a sour shopping experience, and I'm seriously considering alternative...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed with Carrefour's handling of my food processor's٧. warranty. I purchased a Kenwood food processor from Carrefour with a one-year guarantee. Two months ago, I encountered an issue with the grinder's sound. My husband contacted them since it was still under warranty. Initially, they agreed to repair it, kept it for two weeks, and then claimed we needed to pay for the maintenance through Kenwood Maintenance. This was unacceptable, as the issue was covered by the guarantee. After my husband refused, they said they would fix it but that it would take time. Yesterday, they called saying it was fixed. However, when my husband went to collect it today, they hadn’t even touched the processor! To make matters worse, they said they now needed to issue a new complaint because the warranty period had expired. This is completely unprofessional and feels like a dishonest practice from such a large retailer. I would like management to contact me regarding this issue. I do not recommend purchasing any products from Carrefour with a guarantee, as their service has proven unreliable...
