This museum offers you the opportunity to explore the rich heritage and deep-rooted history of Sharjah. The reports of many excavation expeditions showed that humans have settled in Sharjah for a period of not less than 125.000 years. The museum sheds light on the lifestyle of the region’s inhabitants from the stone, modern, and the following ages until the rise of Islam.Sharjah Archaeology Museum first opened its doors in 1993. It moved to its current location on May 10, 1997.The museum contains all the archaeological artifacts that were discovered in Sharjah. The mission of the museum is to preserve, interpret, and exhibit all the artifacts that have been found in Sharjah since the beginning of the excavations in 1973 up until now. The continuous excavations showed that Sharjah boasts a proud, rich deep-rooted history. Settlements and villages were built on its land thousands of years ago.

Visitors get the chance to learn about the civilizations that developed in the region since the Stone Age up until today through the artifacts, currencies, jewelry, pottery and ancient weapons showcased in the museum. The archaeological findings reveal the connections and relations between Sharjah inhabitants and their neighbours in the Arabian Peninsula, as well as with other civilizations. They also show the expansion of commercial relationships from the east of the Indus Valley to the west of the Mediterranean islands.

Explore the tombs, cemeteries and houses through the models displayed in the museum, and learn about the first forms of writing which appeared in this area more than 2500 years ago. Opening Hours:

Saturday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM

Friday: 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Entry Fees to the museum:

Children (under 2 years): Free

Children (2-12years): 5 AED

The Sharjah Archaeology Museum is a hidden gem for history lovers. It beautifully showcases the rich archaeological heritage of the region, with artifacts dating back thousands of years. The displays are very well-organized, covering the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Islamic era, giving a fascinating timeline of human civilization in the UAE.

The museum is not very large, which makes it easy to explore without feeling overwhelming, yet it holds an impressive collection—from pottery and coins to ancient tools and jewelry. The explanations are clear and informative in both Arabic and English, making it easy for visitors to appreciate the significance of each piece.

The environment is calm, clean, and family-friendly, with helpful staff and affordable entry. It’s an excellent place to learn about the roots of the region’s culture and history.

Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Sharjah and want to dive deeper into...

I decided to go to Museum of Archeology in Sharjah for their temporary exhibition of “The Echo of Caravans: Pre-Islamic Civilization Sites in Saudi Arabia” (until Jan 31, 2019). I enjoyed this exhibition a lot and since getting a tourist visa to KSA is very difficult, I did not want to miss it. Plus KSA is a big country, it requires commitment to visit these major sites on one trip. The museum also houses many precious and significant artifacts from the archeological sites in UAE. There are many things that I love, but specifically, the gold horse bridles. The reconstruction of the tomb of Al Buhais 18 is another favorite - especially how the jewelry of one of the women buried there was excavated as it was found settling on her crushed skull. Very interesting. For archeology enthusiasts, this museum...

We visited this place on UAE national day...the entry was FREE of cost. We really enjoyed learning so much about the history of UAE and its culture. The miniature house models are so beautiful and give you an insight about the lifestyle of the bedouins back in the days. They have divided the museum in different parts like bronze age, iron age etc. Its quite fascination to learn about the civilization and how people used to work and commute. Kids can watch videos and fill out the activity forms from each section. There is an area with touch and feel play stuff, puzzle picture and the broken pot activity. They also have sand area for little explorers. This place is very clean and worth visiting with kids.

As soon as you enter the museum you are faced with a serene and harmonious atmosphere. I was greeted by the staff in an excellent way and given the best directions to visit the museum. The rooms are large and the artifacts are harmonious and organic, interspersed with explanatory videos and signs describing the materials on display. It is also worth noting the attention paid to the didactic path and the fact that every indication is easily understandable even for children. The museum is therefore an example of exhibition and teaching, which allows visitors and scholars to meet the daily life, customs and habits of the ancient people of this beautiful country.

It was amazing experience for kids They were excited to know all about archaeologists. What they do, how they do, their procedure instruments work style. How old life was Real history of earlier human life. A good exposure with lots of knowlegde and artifacts available at this museum. The best part was when they became an archaeologist and start digging sand to find out amazing artifacts hidden inside. Recomonded for all. And thanks to the museum for the free workshop. Kids were amazed with such experience. Now they are sharing their experience with everyone. Don't have much photographs but sharing few we took. Thanks
