The Mangrove center has been very recently opened. It’s striking beautiful architectonically speaking. It’s incredibly original, designed by Hopkins Architects. It’s an educational center aimed to protect species and increase environmental awarenes. The exhibitions are fabulous, very educative, incredibly informative and entertaining. The facility contains seven interconnected pods and some timber structures form a beautiful complex that allows to discover the diversity and richness of the area. Facilities include aquaria, exhibition areas, visitor amenities, staff offices, veterinary facilities, classrooms, gift shops, and a cafĆ©. A series of trails and facilities encourage visitors to discover the local species, including all inhabitants of the mangroves, from crabs, to turtles, stingrays, gazelles and the rare Arabian Collard Kingfisher. There’s a whole world ā€œdown thereā€, above and below the surface.

A Day with Nature at Khor Kalba Mangrove Conservation Centre Complete immersion in nature is a gift, and that’s exactly what Khor Kalba offers. Watching the sunset from the Mangrove Bridge was a breathtaking moment – the sun slowly sinking behind the mountains, as if time itself had paused to take in the beauty. The wildlife was equally enchanting – spotting the vibrant kingfisher, serene turtles, and graceful gazelles in their natural habitat felt like stepping into a living, breathing postcard. One of the most fascinating sights was witnessing salt crystals forming on the mangrove leaves – a unique process where the mangroves absorb salty water and release the salt through their pores. Nature’s brilliance, right before my eyes. Khor Kalba isn’t just a visit; it’s an experience that slows you down, clears your mind, and takes you into a world of wonder, even if just for a little while.

A must visit place for kids and adults alike. A lot to understand from the Mangrove ecosystem. The information is well laid out. The walk through the Mangrove is definitely the highlight. The aviary are innovative. Sunset views was superb. Saw turtles and coral reef fish in their natural habitat. Beautiful.
