Well worth a visit if you are in the area, free parking, great views over the North Sea with the supply ships bobbing around in the distance as they wait for permission to enter the harbour .
A great place to see seals and various breeds of birds, the sands run for miles offering loads of opportunity for long walks with your dogs or to just enjoy the views .
I have personally photographed otters , dolphins, seals and many birds, WW2 pill box’s and anti tank stones are evident depending when you visit as the tide determines the areas you will have access too.
Wheelchair access is non existent , though I’m told a boardwalk previously installed is now under the sands due to past heavy storms etc.
I have seen many people picnic or BBQ on the sands during the summer.
Donmouth is a 15 minute walk away from Aberdeen Beach Boulevard, with shops and places to eat and drink within 10 minutes walk.
A golf course sits behind Donmouth with cliffs running along the sands giving even better views over...
Read moreBeautiful area, lots of wildlife including birds, seals and you can occasionally see some dolphins. Be careful of the seals if you have dogs off lead. The seals swim right up the river and can be very aggressive when protecting young. You can walk from Don Mouth all the way to Balmedie (up to Newburgh) if the tide is low. Great place to walk dogs with sand dunes and the beach to walk on. There are a couple of bins at the car park and just at the start of the walk. Unfortunately they’re usually overflowing. But if you leave any rubbish or dog mess beside the bin, it is picked up when they empty the bins. Unfortunately due to the storms a couple of months ago, a lot of plastic and rubbish washed up on to the beach. A lot of the local groups have done an incredible job cleaning it all up. There is still a lot of rubble just at the river but otherwise the...
Read moreThe view is amazing and air fresh, I went there for fishing on to the rocks by the sea which wasn't too hard to get to as it was slightly steep, but path was made into a shape like stairs and a single obstacle of a pothole along which is easy to go through as there is a big rock to go on and through. Excluding the weeds by the shore, the place is great for fishing and stones make a place to put your things and even sit like on a chair, only bad thing about it is the slight steepness and really uneven rocks as this was a place of volcano eruption as I was...
