We had a terrible experience at Golden Palace, made worse by the fact it was my sonās birthday. We booked a table in advance for 7 PM and arrived on time. A staff member greeted us with, āTable for 5?ā I told him we had a booking, but he ignored it and told us to wait in the delivery area because there was no space. I repeated that we had reserved, but again, we were told to wait.
With two small kids, we waited 35 minutes. I told multiple staff members we had a reservation, but no one cared. It became very clear that bookings donāt matter hereāwhoever shows up first gets seated. They donāt value their customers; they just care about profit and turnover.
When we were finally seated, the service continued to disappoint. There were four or five staff members on the floor, and by the time we sat down, the restaurant was nearly empty. Still, they seemed to actively avoid eye contact, doing everything possible not to take our order. It took an unreasonably long time just to be acknowledged.
To make things worse, when food started arriving, we didnāt even have plates. We had to ask for them after dishes were already being served. What a shame. As for the food itself, several items were missing, and some of the dishes brought to us were completely wrong.
To top it all off, the bill was another issue. Despite advertising that children under three eat free, they initially charged us for our two-year-old as if he were an older child. When I pointed this out, they reluctantly corrected it. This wasnāt even the first timeāit had happened on a previous visit as well, and I only caught it too late back then.
This was truly one of the worst dining experiences weāve ever had. The lack of care, poor service, ignored reservation, incorrect billing, and failure to even provide platesāon a birthday celebrationāmade it an evening to forget. This is a business that clearly values money over customers. We wonāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe worst Chinese restaurant in Aberdeen. The service was absolutely terrible and the food was inedible. I went for a birthday meal on Sunday afternoon with my family. There were no other customers in the restaurant and we were the only table. Even so, the one staff member on shift asked if we had booked, sat us down and took forever to take our order because he was too busy playing on his mobile phone. When our food arrived, it was unrecognisable and inedible. It looked like the food was the left overs of another dish and then re-fried. I tried to reassure my family that this must be a one-off as I have been to this restaurant before and it was not this terrible. We looked around for a member of staff to order our mains but there was no one on hand as every member of staff including the chef were sat at the furthest away table all having food of their own. After 30 mins waiting for them to finish their food. We had enough and just wanted to leave.
We shouted over to the staff and addressed the lack of proffesionalism and bad service and food which was completely dismissed and ignored.
This experience ruined my birthday and we left more hungry than we arrived. And we were still charged!!! š²
Avoid at all costs if you are looking for a nice restaurant. All this place is good for is a hangover fill.
It also seriously worries me that you cannot take home your left overs. What do they do with them?? I wouldn't get take away I assume they scrape off what's left in your plate and put it in a tupperware dish to send to take...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe entered this place where as you walked in I tripped over the extension cable that was outside the main door might be my fault for being partial sighted We got in and was greeted promptly but even though we booked online they did not understand what we were saying so the manager came to me and asked me what I was wanting haha once we explained he pointed to a table then walked off Other people were entering the premises and being seated and served before us I then asked for service All the staff apart from the young lad had faces on them like they were not wanting to be there They took our order for the starters and drinks with the language barrier Doric v Chinese it was a difficult ask but got there in the end The mains meals was even worse to order but at least this time we got served by the smiling young lad who explained his Scottish was not good so we were polite and spoke to him and pointed out what we all required and he was happy with that Most of the meals came there was some missing so we explained to them and we still maintained politeness even though I wanted to get ripped in to the manager I was convinced to stay calm When the missing meals came they were incorrect again At this point we all decided to get up and go
Will I go back I donāt think so
The food was edible but no sauces with starters no water on the tables and the main meals were like soup rather than like a meal...
