GeoMôn — Attraction in Amlwch

Small but very interesting display of samples of rock detailing the very diverse geology of Anglesey. It is staffed by volunteers and the gentleman I spoke with was a very knowledgeable amateur geologist. He explained some of the types of stone we'd seen on our walks and also spoke about how the copper ore deposits were formed in Parys Mount. Despite the listing showing as temporary closed they are actually open a few days per week. Very informative and friendly. Usually have hands on displays of rock to identify but after essential refurbishment these are not available but should be very soon. If you are a geeky family like ours you will love how interesting this is. My kids jumped from Jurrasic to Cambrian history in rocks and spent ages deciding which rocks they liked best.
