Stopped off here on our drive along the North Anglesey coastline. We were greeted by a very helpful and knowledgeable chap who freely explained how to find the copper mines nearby before we even discussed or committed to enter the museum. The museum was very informative and gives a real insight into copper mining in the area over years gone by. We intend to do the circular walk around the copper mine whilst we're still on holiday here. Read moreLots to learn. I liked the stimulated mine shaft / adit. A clever use of the location of the museum being located on the side of a hill. Lots of information about the process, why it happened in Amlwch, all the support industries that grew around it including tobacco firms (who knew?), how the knowledge from here went around the world and, eventually, the demise.
Good for enthusiastic 10yr old plus as a lot of information, written, displays and audio is provided but without understanding the context, might be a bit dry for...
Read moreThe majority of the museum consists of information boards, a lot... of information boards. There are a very few exhibits, the most interesting of which is a less than foot square piece of copper cladding from the bottom of one of Nelson's ships (underwhelmed enough not to remember). There are also some touch screen audio exhibits. It's very informative and very noble but ultimately really hard work and ridiculously, embarrassingly overpriced at £7. Go to the Aviation Museum near Carnarvon and have a better time...
