This is a lovely museum, managed by a team of friendly enthusiastic volunteers. Spread over the three floors of a medieval merchant's house its a great place to spend time studying a rich collection of exhibits including mammoth bones, grandfather clocks and even the local fire engine! Its right in the heart of Axbridge with parking right outside and just yards away from the nearest tea shop. Its not open all the time so check before you go. Free to visit - but...

A lovely picturesque & very quaint museum in a perfect location that is owned by The English Heritage, which is full of true historical facts & relics of this & the surrounding areas, I found it to be very informative & the staff seem to be very knowledgeable to answer any questions you may have of days gone by.

There is free parking for an hour just outside, or nearby is Moorland Road carpark that is completely free for as long...

Well we had an interesting visit as the building was small but with three floors it packed in a lot of local history. It is in the National Trusts portfolio of property BUT it is run by a local charity and not the National Trust. King John was dead before the building was built so I don't quiet get the name, odd one. Whilst we were there there was some filming ment to be going on but we did not...

Great little museum and free of charge (donations encouraged). Whilst the exhibits inside are really interesting and eye opening (from the village stocks, to the man and bear traps) the building itself is a time machine and a perfect place to look out from and towards the medieval square or at from the square itself. A must-see followed by a drink or tea in one of the nearby pubs/almshouses.
