It's a great shame, this is down as the best preserved, but I'm afraid it's now being let go. It was closed when we got there and was staying in the area so called back the next day. There was someone there who kindly gave us a quick walk round. He explained there were no plans to do any renovation, which was a great shame. You can still walk round the perimeter outside the fence and can partially see the guns. It could be very good situated as it is overlooking the entrance to Belfast Lough.

If you like forts, the colour grey and pointing at things, this might just be your idea of heaven. The fort itself is a bit underwhelming. Like a lot of Northern Ireland, the phrase, it's good but could be better applies. However, if you stumble across the fort as part of a walk along the shore, it's a different matter. The views up and down and across Belfast Lough are stunning. Check it out.

Great little piece of war history to roam around in for an hour on a warm summers day with great views of Belfast Lough to take in while having your lunch or a family picnic. I've included a birds eye view and an image of the info sign at the main gate that should answer any questions you may have about do's & don'ts
