Visited 30/12/2024, plenty of parking areas across the area, lots of family friendly and accessible paths alongside the bay water side, great for people of all ages and can see the ships further out as they wait to come into the nearby port. The sand has both firmer sand and soft sand parts which if have younger kids worth keeping an eye as they are on the sands, which in the whole very clean, although couple times found couple broken glass bottle pieces so keep aware if with others and/or pets etc. worth a visit if you can get to the area, as lots of path/routes to walk around and take in the...

A small picturesque beach and a great spot for bathing, with some nice woodland walks nearby.

If arriving by train from Belfast, don't take the signposted exit. Instead head down the stairs leading to the other platform and exit via the side gate. This takes you to a wooded avenue that runs down to the beach, and is a much nicer walk.

Due to its easy transport links from Belfast the beach sometimes has influxes of visitors during warm spells, especially younger folk looking to let their hair down, so it can get a bit crowded and noisy...

Helen's Bay beach is really lovely and a treat to visit. Pity same can't be said about our coastal path which has now become a bicycle race track. It is really dangerous for anyone to walk along the path now. The cyclists have no regard for the pedestrians on the path. Great time spent here today, not crazy busy but plenty of people milling about. Beach was relatively clean but towards the end of our day we walked the waters edge and there was some debris and discarded rubbish. I will remember to bring a bag next time to lift anything I see.
