RSPB Adwick Washland - Dearne Valley - Nature Reserve — Attraction in Barnsley

I had an enjoyable morning leisurely walking around Adwick Wetlands. The circular walk is pretty straightforward, though probably not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. There were lots of dog walkers, but it wasn't over busy. I came especially to see the Avocets & wasn't disappointed (over 50). Small reserve so no visitor centre. Good parking on East side of reserve south of Barnburgh. Popular with locals for leisure and dog walking but reserve is protected from irresponsible access by fencing. Good for just walking but also worth visiting for wildlife. Too far to walk from RSPB Old Moor but could be cycled along the TPT. Worth a visit. No access...

Lovely short walk on the raised banks of the River Dearne towards Bolton on Dearne Despite the raised bank still very wet and muddy underfoot. The river itself very high. An abundance of geese on the washland. Really nice wander with plenty of friendly Yorkshire folk about. Car park busy...
