A lovely place. Quite a small ornamental lake constructed originally in front of what was the large house, which burnt down over a century ago. There is a well maintained path around 3/4 of it crossing the water over a lovely Victorian bridge (now being restored) at the west end & the dam at the east. The walk right around the circumference I would estimate about 4miles. The lake has abundant water foul. The banks are partly open land & partly wooded. Read moreLovely country park with plenty of walking and cycle routes. However very expensive. Entry fee is per person not car, so if there are four of you it costs £14 to have a walk around the lake. It's worth it if you are spending the day, but not just for a few hours. I think the national trust need to revise the entry fee as this will put a lot of people off that maybe only want to spend a few hours in the park. They have changed the way you get charged per person in a car instead of a car rate regardless of how many people in the car.
