Wow, what a fab day out we had here...!
I purchased tickets online before the day (tad cheaper to get family ticket but you can only get these online day before).
My son had already told us he wanted to do driving school first so we headed there straight away. There is an option to get photo taken and a licence created for £3.99. I was thinking at this point, 'o crikey, here we go...' but thankfully it wasn't like this across the whole park (and to be fair there was no hard sell!)
Rides were well suited for our kids, the website says theme park up to 10 years, I suspect my son might find it a little tame if we had left it a couple more years, but currently at 5 he found them good fun. There are some height restrictions to be aware of, eg. Driving school (if under height can not ride - our daughter had to watch from sidelines as not tall enough) / ostrich ride if over 110cm height need to ride alone as opposed to with adult). Kids favourite ride was the water one, but only so they could try and get me wet! Found the Christmas ride was a bit different in August, but added to the novelty of the day...!
As you walk round the park there is lots of buttons to press with singing, stories etc. Loads of little paths to explore as well as various playgrounds, soft play and role play type houses (prepare for lots of bending down if you intend to go in with your little people!!)
Café and facilities were actually fairly reasonable (not cheap - but reasonable for a theme park!) We had some very nice (and much needed) Ice cream - there is a shop with different flavours available, as opposed to the kiosks that sell all the usual options. Everything also seemed fairly clean and tidy which was nice.
A very nice place to visit if you have small children which will really get their imagination going...
Read moreWe had a wonderful time at Sundown Adventureland. We stayed in the lodges and could leisurely spend our time in the theme park. My 3 year old with his friends (4 year old, 3 year old, 2 year old and 1 year old), all had a fantastic time. I would say however this place is more suited for 5 years and below. I can see it could be boring for anyone older than 5 years. I would state the entrance fee is pricey for what is offered as rides alternate (some rides open and others close to save manpower). Luckily staying at the lodge means you get entrance included.
Accomodation is modern and clean and we felt safe for our children. The village has its own little playground which our children enjoyed. There was no litter anywhere. The reception is also a shop so if you wanted to make cook in your lodge but didn't bring food then you can purchase food and amenities here. Plus gifts!
I was actually impressed when I read that Sundown was out of date but I didn't feel this. Our favourites were the driving school and jumping pigs ride. There are 8 rides plus an extra one at Christmas only. Plenty of interactive displays and playgrounds. The staff were friendly and the park was practically empty when we were there - no queues. Huge bonus point for this as I dislike crowds and long queues. Even when it did get busier we were always next on the queue. I think if I paid the entrance fee, had to queue and rush around to find which rides are open or closed I would've thought this is a rip off.
The park closes at 5pm but luckily they have a huge softplay that remains open after 5pm. If the kids haven't had their full we would stop by the softplay before heading back to our lodges to have dinner.
We enjoyed it so much that we have discussed to do this as a yearly break...
Read moreI took a gamble and drove 3 hours to visit Sundown. This adventure was for my sons 5th birthday. I am so pleased we went ! I can not stop raving about it to my family.
There are two massive inside soft plays. My children 4 and 5 absolutely loved them. There are walk ways in and around, so u can easily keep your eye on the children. We went in the 6 weeks holiday and it wasn't rammed. There are lots of seating areas and a large variety of drinks and food to enjoy whilst the children burn off there energy.
The little rides were brilliant fun and exciting for the children. My son absolutely loved the barrel ride, and the tractor ride, and with no long ques he went on it over and over again!
The entire place was well looked after. Clean and tidy! Staff were welcoming and you could see they enjoy there jobs.
Entry fees include all rides, so there is no additional costs. You only need to pay extra for food. However, there's lots of inside and outside seating so picnics are welcome too.
The miniture villages were magical. The children spent ages exploring inside all the houses. We arrived at opening 10am and left at closing 5.30pm. There was so much to see I advise two days. I can't wait to visit again. My son was jumping around all day telling me "this is the best day ever". And it sure was, for all of us.
Please visit this place. You don't know what your missing. It really is...
