A beautiful working windmill which produces a great range of freshly milled flour using wind power. The elegant tea room offers a stunning range of healthy home made food including soups, filled rolls and the tastiest cakes I have ever eaten, all baking uses flour from the mill.
Located in the heart of the country and adjoining Sherwood Forest, the windmill and tea room are easily accessible from anywhere in the country. The mill is next to the A1 and makes an ideal stop off point to break up a long journey.
Set in over an acre of land, it is a favourite place to sit outside and watch the sails turning in the breeze while enjoying tea and cake.
The owners, Fari and Paul, work tirelessly to ensure your visit is of the highest quality. This is their home as well as their business and are rightfully proud of their achievements.
I'm pleased to say I'm a very happy repeat customer and have written the above review based entirely on first...
Read moreJust a bit odd. The cake was good. The young waiter and waitresses were nice but the atmosphere was severely lacking and we wanted to leave quite quickly. We asked if we could take away a piece of cake as it was my mums birthday and we were on the way to visiting her but it was seriously out of the question. Like we had asked for one of their children. The staff looked awkward and terrified to ask the owner. I asked if we were not able to buy any cake there could they recommend a local bakery that I could buy some cake for my mums birthday. The only one that would know was the owner and they were too uncomfortable to ask. How bizarre. We felt a bit weird and awkward and was glad to go. The whole atmosphere was a bit serious and maybe could have done with some soft music or something to take the edge off. Also a sign saying under no circumstances can you take cake away so don't ask!! I wouldn't go...
Read moreUpon arrival you are greeted by the magnificent windmill on which this tea room is supported by. We walked in and asked for a table for two which they accommodated immediately. I can imagine that during busier times this might not be possible so booking is probably advisable. We proceeded to order cheese scones which were Divine, all washed down with a lovely pot of tea. We did order cake for desert but unfortunately this was never brought out and after half an hour of waiting we left due to being on a tight schedule. (Although we were offered it wrapped up). My only other criticism is it was exceptionally quiet with no ambient music in the tea room which made me feel uncomfortable. Although we did not buy any, we noticed they sell fresh ground flour in bags for home baking and...
