I went here yesterday with my Sis, she drove, never been before. Unfortunately we drove in via the wrong road, got out and began walking around. At some point walking down a lovely quiet road, we we approached rather aggressively by Security who had literally ran from his office (he said) and asked 'who are you'. We asked why and he said were on private property on a private road and hadn't we seen the big red sign?? Clearly we hadn't....... He then radios through to a colleague and says ' I've found them' like we were hiding 🤷. Another Security Guy pulls up in a van, quite polite and much less aggressive as we walked back down the road. We still didn't see a red sign, as we drive in?! No need for the aggressiveness of the first Guy against 2...
Read moreHad a very unexceptional panini (or was described as a Panini) in the main restaurant. It was t even hot when it finally arrived and service was extremely slow for such a busy place. Expensive menu. The salad dressing was the best bit for me, although my friend didn't like it. My friend had a very pathetic looking jacket potato. Looking around the restaurant, not many people looked delighted with their food & a number of folk were leaving some - and believe me it wasn't because the servings were large. Read moreMy friend and I were lucky enough to be invited to the wedding of a great young couple ( Nick & Becca) at Hazel Gap and told to book on to the Welbeck Estate , we stayed at the"'Winnings' and it was just beautiful.. very traditional stone built residence, manicured lawns but with all the mod cons required for modern living. We had two en-suite bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen and a very nice separate living room with wood burning stove, which I couldn't resist using, just for the lovely glow. Altogether a great time and I will definitely be returning to see more of the...
