Ultimate Xscape Aberystwyth — Attraction in Blaenrheidol

Our family of five (including kids aged 13 and 9) did both rooms on different days. Both were exceptionally well thought through and set out. We especially enjoyed the Jack the Ripper room, possibly because, having done the Diamond Heist previously, we were more in tune with how they worked. Both were very inventive, with puzzles that tested different skills and were tricky but not impossible. This meant they were pitched really well for families. I had worried if the Jack the Ripper might be a but gruesome for the kids but the information came with warnings and was well put together to avoid scaring them. Final mention for the flexible approach to clue giving. You can pick either normal (clues when you want them) or veteran (fewer clues). We went normal both times and the help was well pitched. All in all would absolutely recommend and really hope there'll be another option when we return to the area...

Me and my partner had an absolute blast at Ultimate Xscape, trying their new escape rooms. Both rooms were both highly decorative, and had really immersive themes. The puzzles were great, with some quite tricky ones, and some awesome tech too, especially in Diamond Heist! We’ve done a good 10+ escape rooms over the years, and both of these rank very highly on the list of favourites.

We did both rooms when we visited, and we would say Diamond Heist is our favourite, but only just! The special effects in Diamond Heist were amazing, and we managed to escape with only minutes to spare. Jack The Ripper was also fantastic, with some great puzzles and immersive theming. This one was slightly tougher, but just as enjoyable. If you’re looking for something to do near Aberystwyth that doesn’t involve a sandcastle or stick of rock, then...

Really enjoyed the theory of the escape room Diamond Heist. Was challenging and well thought out. However one crucial clue was missing in the escape room so we were stuck for over 10 minutes on one section. We asked for a clue and the operator was not aware the item was missing for 5 minutes despite us speaking up about this, they finally came into the room and realised the clue was not there and had to give us a replacement. No extra time was added or apology or compensation. A shame as we had not asked for clues until this point and we believe we would have completed the escape room if the room was set up correctly.
