A lovely little space with free access for some peace and quiet. Nothing here - no cafe, no toilets just a nice little walk with benches to sit and chill. Next to the church, no car park, park in the street. Not wheelchair friendly- narrow gravel paths and steep steps. Probably wouldn't spend more than an hour here but enough time to just get away from it all. Well done to the owners for creating this space - every town and village should have one 👍

Beautiful garden. A real hidden gem. The place is a microclimate, being set in an ravine. A wide variety of unusual plants grow here for the UK, as it must be very sheltered. It makes for a fascinating walk with a stunning stream halving the circular walk. We were really careful with our toddler as there were plenty of opportunities for him to get too close to the water. Not wheelchair or pram accessible. No dogs allowed.

A really unusual publicly accessible (but privately owned) garden. The garden follows a little valley and is centered around a managed stream which descends through a series of ponds. There is very intentional but subtle planting beneath a canopy of largely native trees. The garden can be toured by a series of well made paths and bridges. In all the garden is not very big however definitely worth a visit.

The Lyde Garden in Bledlow is a serene hidden gem that offers a tranquil escape into nature. Nestled within a sunken aquatic landscape, this garden is a testament to thoughtful design and natural beauty. The meandering pathways lead visitors through lush plantings of primulas, astilbes, gunnera, and hostas, creating a vibrant tapestry of colors and textures.

The garden's history as former watercress beds adds a unique character, with the gentle flow of the Lyde stream enhancing the peaceful ambiance. It's an ideal spot for quiet reflection, photography, or simply enjoying the sounds of nature. The absence of modern amenities like cafés or restrooms underscores its charm as a place of undisturbed natural beauty.

However, visitors should note that the garden is open at the owner's discretion from 9 am to 4 pm daily, and dogs are not permitted. While these restrictions may limit some, they also help preserve the garden's pristine condition.

In summary, The Lyde Garden offers a delightful retreat for those seeking solace amidst nature. Its rich history, diverse plant life, and tranquil setting make it a worthwhile visit. Just be prepared for a rustic experience, and you'll find it a rewarding...

Some people have commented that the garden needs some tlc. I think every garden needs that. I like the place because it is not 'manicured', and nature is almost left to do it's 'thing'. It is just so very peaceful to sit and listen to the sounds of the natural world, away from the hustle, bustle and the current madness that awaits us as we step outside the gates. Being a water garden in a deep hollow ongoing maintenance will always be required, but please do not change the aesthetics of the place - kids will love it's 'enchanted' feel and will no doubt make up all sorts of fairy stories - it certainly brings me back to those days of innocent wonder. Absolutely...
