I have attended this park quite often.the park itself is good, but it’s not fit for a reactive dog. Other dog walkers can take there dog up and down the public path which runs alongside the fence for quite a distance. There is sadly no privacy screen. You also cannot park directly outside of the park. You have to walk up a pathway which has a blind spot and there are often off lead dogs that can take you by surprise.
Also other users of the park do not respect the rules.A man attended yesterday as we were about to leave. He was 10 minutes before his appointment slot and stood beside the gate with his two dogs letting them sniff my dogs at the fence. My reactive dog went berserk and instead of moving back to his vehicle remained there whilst my dog sliced his face on the barbed wire that surrounds the fence. I had to ask him to move away. He decided to walk the length of the fence and I had to explain he needed to move completely out of sight so I could take my dogs to the van without stress. If he walked the length of the fence my dog would just chase after them and he needed to go the opposite way out of sight. He did not respect the park rules and was oblivious to why dog owners often take their dogs to private dog parks. The owner is not on site and there is no control on situations such as this. I no longer feel I can take my reactive dog to this park. It’s a shame but without a privacy screen and controls on getting your dog to and from the car, this is not a safe venue for everyone.
I would not recommend this park for reactive...
Read moreThis is a very odd dog field. If your dog is reactive DO NOT BOOK THIS FIELD. As previous reviewers mention, you have to go down a narrow public footpath with poor visibility to get in. The footpath runs all along the field and there is no visual barrier. The fence is secure but has barbed wire about a meter up. The parking is also not clearly signposted at all and on a building site right next to the railway.
The big tunnel in the field so slippery inside it's not at all suitable for dogs, the rusty trailer parked there is an odd choice and the very long dogwalk is far too high up with easily jumpable wires on either side. The other wooden structures and platforms are fine.
If none of the above is a problem for a you and your dog then it is well maintained and has fresh water, poo bags, a shelter etc.
If it was made very clear on the website and when booking that it isn't suitable for reactive dogs, and the access situation was fully explained or improved, I would not have left a negative review (because I never would have booked it at all knowing it...
Read moreThat was our first and last time on this field. As mentioned in previous comments, it's not a field for reactive dogs. Can't drive onto field, a walk to it from car, is via public footpath that continues full lenght of the field. That wouldn't be an issue, but the people passing on the footpath with reactive dogs, and the fence, are a massive issues. There is no privacy screen and the fence has barbed wire attached to it, on a level where dogs can easily get hurt and as it happened one of my dogs came back with a bloody snout. I have left leaving review untill my negative feelings subsided, but the place simply isn't safe. Starting with said barbed wire, through rusty trailer set as a dog climbing frame to a really high suspended walkway, that if jumped can cause serious harm. We use numerous other fields and never had such an issues before. The field isn't quiet,...
