I'd rather leave a favourable review as this is a local business that's we've been to numerous times and the floor staff certainly seem to be trying their best in tough conditions with dozens of giddy kids at any given time.
Everytime we go I'm left baffled by odd arbitrary business decisions sadly with no attempt to communicate any rationale for these decisions.
We had to reschedule a birthday party last minute due to poor weather and came here with 12 kids and 7 adults; with a genuine view to feeding everybody during our 2 hour stay as the prices for food are very reasonable.
We asked if we could do the cake cutting with no expectation of any issues as is presumably quite common at children's birthday parties to have a birthday cake, but instead we were met with a unsure no from the staff member then a further "it's a no" having gone to consult the manager directly.
I'm sure there must be some reasoning being why they would make this seemingly odd business decision given the nature of the premises (maybe nut allergy concerns? ) but this wasn't communicated at all and left us feeling that because we hadn't booked a party package there they weren't interested: this depiste it clearly advertising no cake included in party packages so it's not because they were losing a sale of one of their own cakes..
We would have gladly spent our money on food for the whole party with even a cursory attempt to placate us or offer legitimate reasons for the apparent ban on fun but instead we left when out time was up and went to a nearby kid friendly restaurant who would have had no issues whatsoever with the cake ceremony.
Sadly we ended up cutting the cake and distributing party bags in the emptying, rainy car park of the industrial estate in which the play centre is situated, due to some people having to head straight home.
The kids had a great time regardless but as the adults who book places like this to visit, Funtastic will be firmly last choice while it remains so bizarrely keen to stamp on the little things which are commonplace at such play centres across the county.
If you do come to Funtastic, be wary near kicking out time as the staff are a little too eager to tidy away tables, even when they're full of bags, coats and paid for drinks.
I leave this review fully expectant of a swift rebuttal from the owner to negate each point of my less than stellar review but sadly no attempt at all was made to placate us or even speak to us on the day; where the opportunity was present...
Read moreBooked for Childs birthday as online looks good play area for younger children. Owner was helpful and friendly, children liked it but said by few parents that toilets was filthy worse than a public toilet. Generally for kids enjoyed as only interested in playing but wasn’t clean when arrived party table was dirty and when in party room staff didn’t know what was happening as had to ask for them to bring bday cake to comeout and on serving cake hair down and was over cake, found long hair on food aswell but didn’t realise until spoke with older brother of a child who was attending that the staff was young and still in school, which didn’t say anything as at least make effect to earn money. Place is ran by kids literally. Could do with being cleaned at least. Maybe an update as does look really dated compared to photos. One of parents did say nothing changed from when came 10years ago. New to area and did see another play centre but was charging more but looked smaller on pictures online. I suppose get what pay for. Minimum charge 10 children for a party not funtastic fault 10 didn’t turn up but when they provide party bags only give for the 5 that was there but still charged for 10. Had a completely different experience when had parties at other...
Read moreI went with my 15 month old daughter after reading you had a dedicated section for the under 2’s. I’d been really looking forward to it and hoping to return with friends as it’s local for us. Unfortunately there was absolutely no control in there and the area was totally overrun by children obviously a lot older than 2. I understand that parents should parent their children but it seemed like they either didn’t want to or didn’t care. The section for 2-5s was also being used by children a lot older than this. We didn’t stay in the soft play long but the time we did spend in there I had to stay by my daughters side as it was really very dangerous. This meant she couldn’t have any freedom to explore or really enjoy what little was there. The older children were running and throwing themselves into the small ball pit and jumping all over the small area. At no point did any staff member intervene either.
The baby change unit in the baby change toilet is broken and slants downwards making it unusable and very unsafe to be in there.
A total waste of a day out for my...
