Very happy to recommend this place - we went with our grandchildren ages 1-6 and all 3 enjoyed it.

Reading the reviews it seems that several people had very different expectations of the venue/experience. This is not like a large zoo or large commercial venue. Its run by a dedicated team. who clearly love animals and are running small business, and supporting work experience for young people.

Please take the time to read the website which I do think is an accurate reflection of the venue - its small and will only take 1-2 hours of your time. Perfect for most children's attention span. Its also aimed at younger children - older ones may get bored/rowdy.

When you arrive you are presented with a series of rules and I can see why some people don't like that, but its for the safety of visitors. For example Alpaca's can kick - don't stand behind them - so when you then get told off off standing behind them it shouldn't come as a surprise!

The "experiences" did seem a bit expensive - especially if you have more than one child, and can be a difficult conversation if your child see others walking the pig. That said the costs to run the venue must be huge - we couldn't believe the price of hay for example, so fully understand why they have that pricing structure. It maximizes the accessibility for all and allows those who can afford to pay more to enjoy the experiences. If you are on a budget then the pig fishing (yes I did say pig fishing) offers a value option and our kids loved it.

Overall the venue was a great way to turn off the phone, get back to nature and to experience the animals close up. I'm sure we will go again and hope that everyone who attends has a great time...

We visited today for our donkey walk experience and travelled all the way from Derbyshire to this beautiful little place!

We was greeted by lovely staff and couldn’t wait to get inside to see all the lovely animals! - We got chance to say hello to many of the animals before we went on to our donkey walk.

Our guide was outstanding, she explained all about the donkeys and what our walk entailed. We met the very lovely Wizard and Juke who were the best of boys! My husband got Juke and I walked Wizard, they were both super gentle, and funny. Enjoying all the lovely fruits and leaves on the way around! When we got back we got the chance to have some lovely cuddles with them both after, it was such a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing experience.

We was also allowed to go see the cheeky goats as we’d travelled so far and the goats walk was fully booked. The staff went out their way to make sure our experience was beyond our expectations and it did not disappoint, we got to enjoy some time with the little guys!

The little cafe is simple but beautiful, we enjoyed a nice cold drink and little ice cream as well which was very needed with the hot weather!

Overall, we had the most amazing and magic few hours at Huckleberry Woods and it was without a doubt worth the 4.5 hour drive to visit!

Thank you to all the staff, especially our guide for making it really special! - you have a wonderful...

Huckleberry Woods is a beautiful location with plenty of parking. We booked the chill out with the Valais blacknose sheep experience. We were met by Belinda on arrival who took us to meet Hansel and Gretel who really are the cutiest sheep in the world and so friendly. Belinda was very informative and told us lots of interesting facts not just about the Valais blacknose sheep but all of the animals that they have in the orchard. We had plenty of time to fuss and feed Hansel and Gretel and take lots of photos. When our session with Hansel and Gretel ended we were then able to go round the orchard to meet the rest of the animals. We met and fed the Teddy Bear sheep, the alpacas, two miniature donkeys, chickens and turkeys. These were all roaming around freely. This was lovely to see. There are also micro pigs and pygmy goats. What was especially lovely about Huckleberry Woods is how well cared for all the animals are and how much the owner and staff genuinely love all of the animals. It is not just a job it’s a passion. There is a café and gift shop on site. This was a fabulous experience and we would highly recommend...

Went here today (24/4/25) with my 2 year old and she loved it. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly if they tried. It was amazing to get up close with the animals and little one loved feeding them, especially the chickens. She also enjoyed feeding the sheep, alpacas and donkeys. I initially thought that 2 hours wouldn't be enough time to see everything and meet everyone but it was perfect. The animals are friendly, healthy and seem really happy which is great to see and the passion from the people working there for the animals is so clear to see. Toby (sorry if spelt wrong) especially. So friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. You made our trip unforgettable and I hope my little one remembers it for a long time. She's been asking to feed Edwina all afternoon since we left, and every sheep she sees is now called rambo. Highly recommend a visit here. I, personally, will be returning every month as it's such a good way to spend a few hours and, with the animals free to roam, a great way of introducing farm animals to younger kids. 10/10 from me.

A big thankyou to Belinda and all your volunteers Huckleberry Woods is a special place to go The Meet, Greet & Groom had such a lovely flow Belinda's love for the animals is clear to see Their welfare is paramount, the day is worth the fee Meeting the animals and hearing their stories was good Clear from their condition they're being loved as they should The cheeky goats getting up to mischief if they can Or a donkey showing you his teeth on cue went to plan Bandit the pig playing his piano for a treat His companion Minnie sitting and a twirl you can't beat A perfect end to the trip is cake and a cup of tea Done in a teapot, presented so well it was lovely to see Would definately recommend goung and so nice that the animals as well as being in pens can also wander around freely, no tricks were forced and if any didn't want to do anything it was totally respected but most enjoyed the attention and the treats. Loved walking around, thankyou for a lovely experience. Fay & Linda x
