A beautiful walk with a good covid system in place, one way around the tarn so theoretically you don't need to meet anyone face to face. Unfortunately you manage to get the few that can't read the plentiful signs, or just doing it to be argumentative and awkward by walking in the opposite direction to everyone else. A big shout out to the woman and her son who walked against the flow of all the other families and groups the day we went and also managed to get as close as possible to people who were standing admiring the tranquil day and taking photo. The perfect place to visit on a hot summer’s day with family. We took a gentle stroll around the lake which had shady wooded parts, watched the model boats and had an ice cream at the lovely cafe.

It was cheap to park and the parking lasts all day so no time pressure. There is a little cabin to hire rowing boats as well.

Unfortunately, the lake itself had Blue Green Algae in it so we decided not to take a swim. Although, there were signs saying whether it was safe or not at any given time.

There is a rota for different activities on the lake during the week that is worth checking before you go.

Well...

Cracking walking area. Families and dog walkers used this area. There’s a cafe and public conveniences. We never used the cafe but a few people recommended it to us on the day. Nice easy walking around the tarn. There is a few paths which lead off to other villages too. Parking prices are reasonable with a app available if you have no cash. Mobile signal was good so getting the app wasn’t an issue. Pay attention to your car park Id as some will give the the price for cars , coaches or minibuses. Very...
