Flooded gravel pit fringed with native shrubs & trees acting as a reserve for wildlife. Had a lovely few hours watching the birds with their young, dragonflies & damselflies going about their business. Very peaceful spot but, as usual, at least two dogwalkers chose to ignore the signage prohibiting them from the reserve path...They just don't get it! "Dogs policy: NWT no dogs policy on most of the reserve. The exception applies to the public footpath where NWT request that dogs are kept on short leads during breeding season May - September."

Visited in mid-April, we took the peaceful, gentle and very pretty circular route around the pool that we walked in around 30 minutes at a leisurely pace. A small (free) car park provided the start/finish point for us and the handful of dog walkers we met on the way round. It's an ideal place to visit if you need to get away from it all for a while. Sparham Pools is located just outside Lyng village, so The Fox pub in Lyng was the icing on the cake for a bit of post-walk refreshment.

A gentle walk with space to roam, and lots of water. The children enjoyed and it wasn't too long. Parking isn't the easiest but we found a space roadside.

I can't comment on the overall area as I was only in one corner pulling Himalayan balsam out. I can say that, from what I saw of it, the pools are a beautiful spot with plenty of nature to share your day with. Always nice to see industry turned back to the birds, beasties and plants. We're pulling balsam at the other end today, so I'll see some more of it. Hopefully it's...
