We booked to visit here a couple of weeks ago with two six year olds for the first time. As bad weather rolled in we called in advance and was told that the weather would be assessed in the morning. Overnight the bad weather was upgraded to a rare red weather alert:
âA red warning is the Met Office's most severe weather warning, meaning dangerous weather is expected and you should take action to keep yourself and others safe.
It is very likely that there will be a risk to life, with substantial disruption to travel, energy supplies and possibly widespread damage to property and infrastructure.
You should avoid travelling, where possible, and follow the advice of the emergency services and local authorities.
Expect:
Flying debris, resulting in danger to life
Damage to buildings and homes - roofs blown off, power lines brought down
Uprooted trees likely
Roads, bridges and railway lines closedâŚâ
Speaking to the Ski Centre this morning after the alert was issued I was told that they had carried out their own risk assessment and that they deem their outdoor activity centre located on a hill, surrounded by trees safe.
They promised to put this in writing to me, to date theyâve not sent anything.
Rude and insensitive staff who obviously care more about money than the safety, well-being and enjoyment of their customers.
We didnât even want a refund at the time, we didnât want to pay ÂŁ20 admin fee (Iâd love to see the breakdown of this) for something that cost ÂŁ25 to move to a later date and was clearly an exceptional situation to the norm.
If they are willing to put people at risk for ÂŁ20, what other corners are they willing to cut, did a risk assessment actually get carried out, are the facilities of suitable standard, are the staff professional, do they provide minimum basic customer service levels? Who knows? From our experience so far Iâd say no; and I wouldnât want anyone else to find out at the expense of their own well-being or that of...
Read moreI hadnât been here for at least 25 years, so it was nice to see the place hasnât changed significantly in that time. Bought my little ones here for a Tubing session and they thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were friendly and helpful, providing lots of information on the different classes available and a comprehensive safety brief before the activity begins. The site itself is starting to look a little old now and could do with being refurbished but it remains very clean and tidy and more than adequate, although the only refreshments available on site are vending machines that only take cash. My daughters loved the tubing but we will be coming back next week for skiing lessons. I would...
Read moreDecided to encourage my children to take up skiing by starting them off at the local ski club . A family lesson is quite expensive but I thought I could do with a refresh and it would good to do it with them . Booked a second one but my younger son woke up this morning with a temperature and sickness . Called all morning with no response , finally managed to get through only to be told that they wouldnât move it as I needed to give the them one weeks notice . One week ago he wasnât sick , these things do happen with children . The people answering the phone are always quite young and experienced which isnât always helpful in customer service . ÂŁ125 lost ! And I certainly wonât be going...
