Mottistone garden is magical ! The flowers and plants 🌱 are beautiful! The staff there are very friendly and helpful. The lady at the entrance was so lovely helping us sort out a carers pass for us. She went above and beyond! I would definitely visit again and even bought a National trust membership.

However the parking is at the top of a hill making it very difficult for people with reduced mobility. I wish they had 2 or 3 disabled parking spaces at the entrance as it was difficult to find parking when using a wheelchair as we could not walk down the steps from the carpark. Apart form that, this place is brilliant and a must see!

If you have a wheelchair user I recommend going with 2 carers as the ground is gravel and it’s very hard to push a wheelchair up. I struggled to push my daughter so only explored half of the garden. If my partner was there we could have taken turns to push making it easier, but he was unable to come due to work commitments. And the great thing is you can have 2 free cater tickets free, which is...

surrounded by mature trees, this beautiful area of the island is home to a 'National Trust' place nestled in Mottistone Down with lovely well kept drought tolerant plants in different garden zones inc. vegetable garden, rose gardens, formal garden, mediterranean area etc. some of the grounds are given over to wild meadow flowers too. there is a nice shady seating area for those who partake in the available tea, coffee, cake, ice cream etc. also, plenty of benches are dotted around to rest & admire the views. accessibility is a challenge, but there is a 'step free' route around the grounds (but beware of the gravel paths). free entrance to 'NT' members, £7.00 PP otherwise (parking is free though). all in all well worth a leisurely visit. (4* because of the difficulty in accessing all parts of...

What a lovely garden to visit! So many areas to enjoy with plenty of seats to rest and enjoy the views. The gardens are beautifully kept with lots of interesting plants to see, smell and admire.Lots of paths and walks of varying lengths to choose but also some with moderate to steep slopes top watch out for. There is a welcoming outdoor cafe with plenty of seating and nicely spread out, plus a covered area if needed, that sell light refreshments. Being National Trust there is always the shop to browse with a selection of very tempting gifts. There is an outdoor area with loads of plants on sale, many of which can be seen in the gardens. It has an excellent car park with plenty of space for picnics and play. Very relaxing and of course surrounded by beautiful views of coast...

Trying to make the most (and justify) my national trust membership i took a small detour to visit. Really surprised at how lovely the gardens were despite it being the end of season. Plenty still in flower. Lady at the entrance was very helpful. The house isn't open apart from a book stall and a small shack. I went with a dog so couldn't go into those parts anyway. Had a light snack at the cafe. Pretty basic food but adequate and seating is all outside. We then went on a walk up to the long stone. Lovely views and a good walkway up. There were cattle grazing nearby but they didn't bother us which was a relief given we had the dog with us. Would definitely want to visit again in flowering season although ferry prices are so high it's a bit prohibitive to visit more frequently.
