Zooming in from above, one notices, what appears to be an eyebrow & then a green eye, calmly gazing back, which instantly, puts the visitor at ease. And, yes, that yellow scribed line does point all the way to Göbekli Tepe. We were once of one culture, during the Neolithic Revolution, when we erected massive stone structures, such as Longstone megalith. And, we revered nature, and worked together to accomplish great deeds and monumental Neolithic monuments. Thank you, Isle of Wright, an enchanted land,...

Impressive Neolithic standing stone that enjoys good views thanks to its hilltop location. Local legend has it that the stone was thrown here by St Catherine. It's an atmospheric spot, worth seeking out. The Longstone is free to visit and accessible separately from Mottistone Gardens. Unusually for the National Trust, the trail up through the woods from the parking area lacked signage, making it easy to get lost. Fortunately some friendly locals...

A peaceful place with a warm and magical energy to it. Visiting The Longstone really helps you to connect to nature and the earth. Rest a while here, take in the superb views and bathe in the good energy.

This stone is reached from NT Mottistone Gardens and the climb can be confusing depending on the route you take, from the house or car park. Many paths and that are not well marked but worth it in the end. Warning if using Google map, there is a perfectly good road from the Military road A3055 to the house and car park but Google map will take you down miles of single track roads with no pull overs so be warned.
