Well maintained and remains in use. Unusual lighthouse set close to shore on 9 wooden legs. One of 3 lighthouses in Burnham on Sea actually!… Please be aware and very careful of the mud / sinking sand around the lighthouse at low tide…in fact the whole of Burnham on Sea beach has sinking sand and deep mud along it closer to the waterline as you walk along. Many people / dogs have been stuck over the years causing the RNLI to be launched to rescue them. The tide is the second fastest in the world (fastest being Funday Bay in Canada) so comes in extremely quickly and can catch people out. Accessible from main promenade by walking down on the the beach. As you walk along there are sand dunes and wonderful views across the sea towards Wales and Brean Down. Disability access possible depending upon disability. Parking in Burnham on Sea in public car park. No...

We drove from Bridgwater to have a look at what was on offer at Burnham on Sea. We parked up which we didn’t think all day parking charge was that bad at £6.10. We had a walk to the sea front, the beach is quite nice, plenty of sand and lots of access points to get to it, didn’t see many wheelchair access points but I can’t say I was looking I am sure there will be some. We walked from one end to the other right down to the lighthouse on stilts. Walked back up and stopped at Esplande fish bar, which was expensive but worth it, the service and food was great and we timed it right as the heavens opened not long after we sat down. There didn’t seem to be much else to do here besides a short trip in the arcades so about 2.5 hours...

Good lighthouse. Looks really beautiful and is one of the more stand out and iconic areas of Burnham-On-Sea area. Exceptionally great landmark for taking photos of. Definitely would recommend seeing it if you are visiting this area of Somerset or even live round here. It is a solid 5 or so min walk down a footpath that joins with Gore Road & Brightstowe Road. It is also about a 15 min walk from Burnham-On-Sea seafront, about a 35 minutes walk from Burnham-On-Sea Holiday Village, about a 10 mins walk from Retreat Caravan Park, about 20 mins walk from Lakeside holiday park & about a 45 mins walk from Home Farm Holiday Park. It is also a 25-30!minute walk from either of the car parks dotted around town near the...

The Burnham-on-Sea Low Lighthouse, fondly referred to as 'the Lighthouse on Legs', has a rich and dynamic history that has evolved significantly since its construction in 1832 and continues to play an operational role today. Additional information. Visiting is easy as this is on the public beach, the nearest parking would be on Poplar Road ( 51.24464740501554, -3.000507843662151) but this is busy. There is however plenty of parking on the sea front (51.2391062944699, -2.9989930766074693) then there is an easy 1.1 KM walk along the beach. There are lots of facilities on the sea front.
