In the pursuit to learn skateboarding in winter months, we discovered Mags. We travel from North Bradford to Halifax, and it's been completely worth the 45mins each way. On weekends when we come there is lots of parking. The staff are wonderfully polite and helpful. You can borrow and hire safety equipment (helmet and protective pads), scooters, bmx's etc. We have our own but in case we forget anything, it's great to know the session can still go on without compromise! The ramps are of different size and ability. There's plenty of space to spread out and do tricks. Parents/ guardians can wait on the sides, where there's lots of comfortable seating. Do wrap up though because it's cold. Probably a few degrees warmer than outside temperature. For the ones in action on the ramps, this is great because you can get warm from whizzing around. You can buy a hot/cold drinks, warm food or snacks from the cafe, with reasonable prices. My 4yr old son and I (nearly 40) have our skateboarding lessons here with a professional skateboarder who teaches us 1:1. The ramps are perfect to learn on, not too big and daunting and my son is improving every week, growing in confidence under the guidance of his teacher. He's now learning drop-in! Ask at the desk about their various sessions and 1:1 teachers! Come check it out because it's not just for the children! I'm learning skateboarding and I'm nearly 40! This place is safe to...
Read moreCould be 4 or 5 star if it wasn't so bloody slippy! Good place overall, reasonable prices, little shop for bits of gear, and a cafe. Reasonably quiet on week nights too which is nice. Foam pit is a bit manky but well built and fun, It is just TOO SLIPPY. that is their big problem. Makes it really hard for us skateboarders to enjoy ourselves when you always have to watch yourself and stay in a straight line for fear of slipping out. You're not going to enjoy yourself are you?? Have had a few heavy falls there over the years just from slipping out out of nowhere, which is infuriating. Really hope they can sort that out because it is a good place to have and essential through the winter, but you end up thinking twice about going because you just know it will be...
