If you check my previous review The Isabella Plantation you will see that I stated that this was probably one of the very best Azalea/Rhododendron gardens in the UK. Having now visited the Bowood Woodland garden I think the same statement applies to this garden although they are very different. The Isabella Plantation is high drama, with huge banks of Azaleas, the Bowood garden is more intimate with Azaleas set within a more landscaped garden, with hills and ravines. The result is Azaleas of all colours blues through to yellows and whites set against the lush greens. Bowood also has some very subtle off white to Blue/purple shades that are very delicate in colour. The staff at the entrance hut are very polite and there is a food box at the entrance, good coffee and snacks. Please note the garden closes on the 1st of June, do visit this garden now. I think this garden is another of our extraordinarily beautiful gardens that we are lucky enough to have in the UK, do not miss this. For photographers the single head pink close up is a focus stacked 8 frame blend...

Too many annoying loud people but would've been such a lovely peaceful place otherwise, so worth being patient & waiting for loud people to move along. Interesting echo-filled mausoleum to see too. Lots of rhodendrons to see in colours of pink, orange, red, white, purple, yellow. Set in undulating woodland with lots of criss-crossing footpaths. Free car parking & kiosk with homemade cakes to buy. Toilets near entrance. Only open til June sometime, so one...
Read moreA delightful experience. Well marked paths through diverse woodland with spectacular rhododendrons and carpets of bluebells. Plenty of field parking with spaces allowed for disabled. Plenty of seats both by the refreshments and dotted round the woodland. We visited on a sunny Sunday morning. All ages and abilities there. Dog friendly. It might be much busier if there were...
