We were excited to visit here as from the front, it looks like a cosy, traditional English pub. Plenty of parking was available and there were benches outside by the car park. It's clearly dog friendly (although we visited on a Sunday evening when they were serving a buffet style roast from the pub area, which seemed popular with other customers), but due to the food being out we were restricted to one side of the pub seating area which was very small (2-3 tables, no seating at the serving bar, and a narrow bar style table along the wall). Staff were incredibly friendly despite being mostly teens. There is apparently a separate restaurant area out the back for a more formal dining experience. Menu provided a reasonable selection of fairly average pub grub. Most notably about our experience is that although made to feel welcome, we did not feel comfortable staying - it felt like a great pub for a pitstop pint, but the energy of the place was flat and there was nothing cosy or interesting about it to make us want to stay. We drove away a bit baffled by the place, discussing how it felt more like a dentist or surgery waiting room, than a pub.... Plain magnolia walls, and no real decoration (nothing noticeable or memorable at least!) prices were average and they had a reasonable selection of drinks available. Sadly just nothing unique about the place at all... Apart front the fact they gave us free dog treats! Perhaps it's better for a meal than as a watering hole? Or maybe there's outdoor seating out the back? Unless there's a secret about the place that only the few regulars know, I'm baffled as to how it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe just wanted to express our thanks to the whole team for such a wonder experience on Saturday lunch time - the carvery was outstanding - the best we have had in many years - the atmosphere was excellent and a perfect place to meet up with family. Cody certainly took time out to ensure everything during our visit was to perfection. Sue the chef who we met when serving the carvery was so helpful and clearly her passion is cooking - to present such a carvery to so many people to that level of perfect deserves a massive well done. The cheesecake which was home made was to die for. Excellent value for money and we look forward to returning on many occasions. Shout out to Kevin and Emily who we could see were also working very hard and I am glad we asked for all your names so we could write this review. Keep up...
Read moreWe booked a large party of 15, had a pleasant evening with good friends food was okay nothing outstanding we all had carvery, food temperature was on the cold side personally I like my food piping hot, due to being a large party we ordered and paid for drinks at the bar during the evening, very disappointed at the end of the evening to find their was a shortfall once everyone had settled for food and deserts at this point we were told the special £25 carvery offer was for the first six couples only, fair enough but would have been good for the staff to advise before we had all settled our outstanding bill, to spread the cost between us made it very awkward at the end of the evening Would I recommend this venue probably not, we were asked to settle up and leave at 21.30pm as they...
