Another classical building located inside the National Trust at Stourhead. Situated on the Hillside at the southern end of the lake, the Temple of Apollo offers outstanding views over the lake. On this occasion, I was unable to enter the Temple as it was being readied for a civil ceremony that are requested there. However that can wait till my next visit to Stourhead. A little point of note the walk up the hill to the Temple of Apollo from the Lakeside is not really suitable for anyone with mobility issues, however there maybe access from the National Trust car park also situated on the hillside, so worth an ask...

Highly recommended, alone or as couple...

I've been to many sites over the years (within 2.5 hour drive) Ove now bought a motorhome to visit further afield. Stourhead remains one of my favourites. You won't be disappointed. Hopefully the house will be open soon. Stay...
